Hopewell Federal Credit Union is currently searching for highly motivated and professional individual to fill the position of Mortgage Loan Officer. This is a full-time position with benefits and commission-based salary. This position is onsite at our Heath branch. Position Summary:The Mortgage Loan Officer is the individual that originates first mortgage applications from both internal and external sources and to meet or exceed Mortgage closed loan production goals. The Loan Officer establishes the best product for the customer. They evaluate ratios and make preliminary recommendation based on initial information. Loan origination is a vital part of initiating a first mortgage. Customers include Credit Union members, non-Credit Union members and Credit Union clients. The Mortgage Loan Officer maximizes Hopewell's visibility within the business community and achieve organizational goals. The Loan Officer works to expand their own network of relationships while also working with the Credit Union's members to originate mortgages with new buyers and refinance packages. The Mortgage Loan Officer is to develop, and document internally and externally lead sources.Responsibilities:
- Interviews, takes applications, and processes preliminary documentation on loan requests. Discusses loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates, and loan documentation in such a manner as to elicit positive responses from customers.
- Performs follow-up work as necessary to achieve conditional approval within established time frames.
- Notifies customer if loan is referred to associate because of problem ratios or credit ratings.
- Advises customers of loan approval or denial. Explains loan denials precisely and clearly to customers.
- Completes lending operations in accordance with established credit union polices and legal requirements.
- Counsels customers whose loan requests were denied, explaining reasons and alternatives.
- Maintains and projects the Credit Union's professional reputation.
- Develops mortgage business through referrals from credit union staff, sales calls on realtors, attending local Board of Realtor functions and through facilitation of home buyer seminars.
- Works with mortgage loan processors to get loans closed in a timely manner by collecting appropriate documentation from each applicant and delivering loan package in the time frames set by management.
Qualifications:Education/Certification: Bachelor's Degree or four years relative equivalent and/or training in real estate licensing; or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.Required Knowledge: Understanding of the foundation of determining credit worthiness. Knowledge of credit union loan policies, products, procedures, processing, and underwriting guidelines. Familiarity with real estate property, title reports, insurance, and appraisals. Experience Required: Two years of related loan processing and or origination experience. Real estate background helpful.Skills/Abilities: Strong loan and credit application interviewing skills. Excellent communication and public relations abilities. Good analytical and financial skills. Able to operate related computer applications, calculator, and other basic business equipment. Ability to overcome objections.
