What You'll Be DoingAs a Mortgage Loan Originator at Bank Iowa, you will be responsible for originating mortgage loans and the development of new mortgage business through establishing referral sources within the community. This role promotes the bank and our services to the community.
- Develops, fosters and maintains relations with investors, homebuilders, real estate professionals, market representatives and other business development contacts to provide strong sources for loan production.
- Solicits first mortgage loans, informs prospective loan clients of the Bank's underwriting guidelines and government regulations.
- Conducts interviews with prospective borrowers to analyze financial and credit data, determine financing objectives, and advise on product options.
- Guides clients through the loan application process to ensure all necessary documentation is collected.
- Maintains and monitors pipeline reports to ensure volume and quality are consistent with Bank's goals and objectives, policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with underwriters to secure approval for loans.
This is a full-time position and typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Some flexibility may be necessary to participate in community events after normal business hours. This role is base salary + incentive based on volume.RequirementsSkills/Experience You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field preferred
- 3-5 years of residential mortgage loan officer experience is required.
- Must have a strong understanding of underwriting criteria, residential market guidelines, and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to produce self-generated loans.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to close deals effectively
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Register and obtain a unique identifier number from the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System.
