- Manage the Mortgage Operations area, which includes the supervision of Processing, Underwriting, Closing, and support personnel.
- Responsible for making recommendationsfor loan approvals or denials, and on other loans needing special consideration.
- Make recommendations for loan product pricing, promotion, and policies to ensure competitiveness.
- Manage, monitor, and measure the performance of queues and processes.
- Operate risk management controls to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Effectively leverage resources to monitor queue performance, identify patterns and trends causing issues and work towards business solutions.
- Develop new and more innovative, efficient processes to improve overall end to end cycle times or improve quality.
- Support, recommend and implement technology initiatives.
- Responsible for communicating monthly results to Management on departmental performance objectives.
- Act as the main point of escalation for all issues within the functions.
- Preform capacity and staffing planning to ensure adequate service levels are met.
- Ensures loan portfolio meets Secondary Market requirements by measuring compliance with established policies, regulatory guidelines and sound lending practices.
- Develop and keep the Mortgage Operations team informed through staff meetings, continuous coaching, training, and by attending seminars/conferences.
- Set individual weekly and monthly goals for Assistant Manager and Team Leaders to ensure that department as well as DCU goals are met, and keep VP of Mortgage Lending informed and updated on the results.
- Responsible for conducting Annual Performance reviews for all Mortgage team members.
- Respond to both internal and external member issues and inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Assist in conducting in-house training classes for credit union personnel.
- Complete all required Bank Secrecy Act related training annually and maintain knowledge of current BSA policies, specifically those related to functions performed within the department and identifying and reporting possible suspicious activity.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by VP of Mortgage Lending.
What You'll Need
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in managing the origination, closing, and servicing functions
- Knowledge of FNMA and FHLMC guidelines, mortgage compliance, secondary market servicing, staff training and development
- Ability to handle multiple priorities
- BA/BS degree preferred
- Requires compliance with the S.A.F.E. Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 and all related regulations. Ongoing employment with Digital Federal Credit Union is contingent upon meeting all such requirements, including acceptable background investigation results. The S.A.F.E. registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) is required at the time of employment. Additional Eligibility Requirements:
- Advance knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint)
- Excellent presentation and organizational skills; ability to collaborate, manage and expand relationships across the organization and with all levels of management
- Thorough understanding of mortgage industry data and current issues, including knowledge of mortgage lending, origination, servicing, underwriting quality control requirements and due diligence
- Knowledge of Loan Originations Systems (LOS), Point-of-Sale, Product & Pricing Engine (PPE)
