The expected salary range for this position on hire is $43,797 - $65,134**** THIS POSTING WILL BE USED TO HIRE FOR SEVERAL LOCATIONS *******INCLUDING: Silver Spring, Gaithersburg, and Kensington LocationsWHO WE AREThe Division of Transit Services coordinates transit services in Montgomery County. Transit accomplishes an essential mobility mission of the County, connecting people, communities, workplaces, educational institutions, recreational opportunities, and many other essential destinations. The Division plans, schedules and manages the County's own Ride On bus system consisting of County owned and operated buses. The Ride On system is designed to complement the service provided by the other transit providers in the County and provides almost 30 million trips per year.WHO WE ARE LOOKING FORTransit Services is seeking Motor Pool Attendants who have the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, can independently perform revenue collection and bus cleaning duties using simple hand tools and equipment associated with revenue collection and cleaning/servicing vehicles and has the ability to drive assigned vehicles and obtain a Commercial Driver's License upon completion of appropriate on-the-job training.Removing fare boxes from buses and emptying coins into mobile collection bins for later transport to the counting facility. Replacing fare boxes and documenting bus information on designated forms.Assisting Bus Operators with operator checks on equipment, as requested.Driving buses from bus lot to service lanes or refuel areas and other locations. As assigned, fueling vehicles (including natural gas and electric vehicles).Changing displays or restocking literature in buses and transit areas.Performing general utility duties such as picking up litter, shoveling snow, moving boxes/equipment, etc.Performing basic and routine checks of vehicles' fluids and tire pressure.Checking buses and motor pool area for damage and reporting any problems.Under special conditions, driving bus (without passengers) from motor pool area on public roads to another location for use by a Bus Operator whose bus is out of service.This position requires the ability to attend meetings or perform work at locations outside the office.The individual selected for this position will be considered an Essential Employee. Essential employees must report to work during a period of general emergency or liberal leave.To ensure a positive workplace and to comply with Federal, State and County laws, the incumbent is responsible for completing mandatory training within the first three to six months or within the specified timeframe.EDUCATION: Ability to read and write in English and accurately perform basic addition and subtraction calculations.EXPERIENCE: No Previous experience is required.EQUIVALENCY: None.Licenses, Registrations, Certifications, or Special RequirementsAt Time of Employment Application:â ¢ Possession and maintenance at all times of a valid Class C Â (or equivalent) driver's license from the applicant's state of residence.Upon Completion of Bus Driver Training by Montgomery County:â ¢ Possession and maintenance at all times of a valid Class B Â (or equivalent) Commercial Driver's License, with air brakes and passenger endorsements, from the employee's state of residence.Interview preference will be granted to candidates that possess: a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A Â or B Â with passenger endorsement issued by the local jurisdiction in which you reside.#J-18808-Ljbffr
