SummaryUnder the guidance and leadership of the Director, Pentagon Services Division (PSD), Executive Services Directorate (ESD), Washington Headquarters Services (WHS) and direct supervision of the Pentagon Motor Pool (PMP) Leaders, provides Official Motor Transportation for the PMP.This job is open to Federal employees - Competitive serviceCurrent or former competitive service federal employees.Career transition (CTAP, ICTAP, RPL)Federal employees who meet the definition of a surplus or displaced employee.VeteransMilitary spousesLand & base managementCertain current or former term or temporary federal employees of a land or base management agency. Eligible Priority Placement Program DoD Military Spouse Preference applicants, eligible PPP applicants, VEOA.DutiesIncumbents typical work assignments may include the following: Provides support for the General Motor Pool (GMP) and/or Executive Motor Pool (EMP) by operating leased and/or GSA passenger carrying vehicles, including sedans, station wagons, minivans and/or cargo vans, and ambulances as assigned, equipped with manual (standard) or automatic transmission.Operates one-half ton 12 to 44 passenger carry all and 12 to 45 passenger buses to transport authorized personnel on official missions.Drives a 15 to 44 passenger bus or similar vehicle with either manual standard or automatic transmission.Involved in Ceremonial Bus transportation support for the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff and high-ranking officials.Provides official executive transportation support for the Executive Motor Pool (EMP).Provides safe and efficient transportation for customers throughout the National Capital Region. RequirementsConditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship is required.Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.This position is subject to provisions of the WHS/OSD PPP Pilot Program.May be required to successfully complete a probationary/trial period.Must be determined suitable for federal employment.Required to participate in the direct deposit program.This position is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.The incumbent must possess a valid U.S. State Driver's license.Ability to obtain and maintain a State Motor Vehicle Operator License, Operator License, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger (P) endorsement and air brake endorsement along with a good driving record.Employee has 90 days to obtain a Commercial Driver's License from the date of entry on duty.The incumbent may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and/or overtime.The employee assigned to this position is designated as a MISSION ESSENTIAL EMPLOYEE.Mission essential employees may be required to report for, or remain at, work in dismissal or closure situations due to adverse weather conditions, natural disasters, or other emergency situations.The position may require occasional travel away from your normal duty station (10%) for official business on military or commercial aircraft.The incumbent is required to pass a pre-employment and yearly physical examination for this position. QualificationsYour background must demonstrate a full range of ability to perform as a Motor Vehicle Operator, WG-5703-08, without more than normal supervision.EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume.SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. The screen-out element for this position is: Ability to perform the duties of a Motor Vehicle Operator without more than normal supervision.JOB ELEMENTS: Those who meet the minimum level of experience and training for the screen-out element will then be evaluated in each of the following job elements: Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles)Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation)Operation of Motor Vehicles PHYSICAL EFFORT/REQUIREMENTS: Light to moderate physical effort is required in operating, turning, backing, and controlling vehicles which carry heavier loads due to the number of passengers. Moderate physical effort may be required in the handling of objects weighing up to 20 pounds and occasional handling of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.WORKING CONDITIONS: Operates vehicles day or night in all types of traffic and weather conditions for all shifts. Operator is subject to cuts, bruises, and other injuries as a result of accident while driving vehicles. Must agree to work any of two shifts with proper notification. If required, must agree to wear government provided uniform while operating vehicles.
