Position Description
The Materials Planning & Logistics (MP&L) Manager will oversee the planning of production activities to align with customer demand, manage inbound material flows, and coordinate outbound shipments. This role is responsible for meeting inventory targets for the plant and ensuring customer satisfaction by achieving on-time delivery and minimizing customer PPM.
This is an onsite position at our Jefferson City, MO plant, with hours starting as early as 7 AM and leaving by 5 PM. However, flexibility in scheduling may be required on certain days.
Key Responsibilities
* Leadership over Purchasing, Supply planning (Constraint based planning & Inventory optimization), Warehousing & Plant material control and customer service.
* Oversee production scheduling activities; communicating with operations to ensure are available to meet customer demand.
* Produce monthly production and inventory plan to achieve annual plan targets and meet customer expectations for delivery lead-time.
* Create Plan for Every Part (PFEP) strategy and execution to optimize inventory levels. Develop stocking strategies based on product segmentation, and work with cross functional teams to ensure inventory strategy aligns with factory footprint.
* Partner with SIOP organization to calculate roll forward view of monthly production, sales, and inventory planning schedule to align projection of shipment, bookings, backlog, production volume, and inventory level.
* Manage the material planning & purchasing staff to ensure all productive and non-productive material procurement is conducted per standard operating procedures. Ensure PO's and exception messages are managed appropriately to support production schedules. Communicate with operations team daily to address material shortages.
* Develop, assess, and implement appropriate inventory practices, controls, and procedures while ensuring facilities' inventory accuracy is maintained adequately. Investigate inventory variances and report on main drivers and proposals for resolution.
* Interface with sales and operations leadership at our supplying partners as necessary to ensure planning requirements are met.
* Identify solutions to supply chain challenges, working with engineering, procurement, and quality to ensure customer satisfaction is protected.
* Leverage lean manufacturing concepts to continuously improve material flow in the facility, and to continuously improve our warehousing, service parts, receiving, and stores operations.
* Maintain positive safety culture within the MP&L team, ensuring team operates in a safe manner, according to all standard operating procedures.
* Maintain high level of organization and cleanliness within the material storage areas of the facility, employing 5S activities on a daily basis.
Required Education & Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field is required.
* 5+ years of overall business experience, preferably within procurement or manufacturing environments, with at least two years in a leadership role.
* Excellent decision-making, interpersonal, and communication skills, along with strong proficiency in computer applications.
* Strong analytical and organizational abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to manage multiple projects efficiently.
* Experience working with ERP systems is required, with SAP experience preferred.
* Forward-thinking and visionary mindset; Ability to anticipate industry trends and drive innovative solutions that align with long-term organizational goals.
* Exemplifies a hands-on, collaborative approach with a willingness to roll up sleeves and work directly alongside the team to drive results and foster a strong sense of teamwork and accountability.
