This new division, based in Birmingham, AL, combines all Plant and Industrial Products in a single customer-focused package. Most importantly, we will build strong relationships with design engineers, contractors, plant operations teams and project owners to assure we are their first-choice supplier for both new construction and future upgrades. Job Description The warehouse worker will perform various tasks assisting with the operation of the plant, including testing and preparing import valves for shipping, inventory cycle counts, preparing shipments, and transporting inventory from the local warehouses. You will also be responsible for keeping the warehouse clean and organized and material handling with the use of forklifts. Scope of Responsibilities
- 1st Responsibility - Ensuring personal safety and the safety of your team members.
- Assists supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
- Wear appropriate PPE, which may include fall protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection, foot, hand, head, and eye protection
- Responsible for cleanliness of the assigned work area and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
- Proactively promotes the McWane Way principles.
- Prepare import valves for shipping
- Test import valves
- Transport inventory to and from the Columbiana warehouse
- Assemble and test valves
- Inventory cycle counting
- Track and maintain a detailed inventory logbook
- Track and manage shipping supplies
- Complete valve certifications
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing trucks.
- Moves and handles parts with cranes and fork trucks.
- Other tasks and duties as needed.
Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
- The employee is required to communicate both verbally and written in English.
- Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to meet and adhere physical requirements as well as adhere to wearing the appropriate PPE (steel toed boots, safety glasses and hearing protection)
- Must be able to work in dust and fumes.
- Will be required to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
- Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
- Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus and determine and distinguish color.
- Must have the ability to operate a forklift and obtain certification.
