Career Ladder Progression SHIFT: Mon-Friday 3p-1130p, Weekend days and on call A career as a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technologist is exciting for those who are passionate about health care, patient comfort and saving lives. As a technologist, you are asked to operate MRI scanners and to ensure that the procedure produces quality images and information for the health care professional to make an accurate diagnosis. You have the chance to work and interact directly with patients as you ensure that they are comfortable and calm. Utilize your medical knowledge by interviewing patients, explaining the procedure and placing the patient in the appropriate spot on the table. Technologists are also organized, detail-oriented people who are familiar with the anatomical area that is being scanned and the patient's history. Develop relationships with patients as you help diagnose their condition as an MRI technologist.
A Brief Overview Performs MRI scans at the direction of physician protocol. Provides compassionate age-specific care to patients from neonates through geriatrics.
What You Will Do - Performs MRI scans as directed by radiologist
- Patient care during visit to MRI
- Answers phones and arranges schedule for in-patient request
- Assures a safe and clean environment
- Maintains knowledge of technical skills
- Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patients/customers and coworkers
- Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment
- Displays commitment to the mission of the hospital and its values
- Demonstrates successful technical/patient skills by efficiently implementing special procedure technology in the MR area
- Uses administrative skills to contribute to the successful operation of the department
- Collaborates effectively and in a timely manner with co-workers and clinical staff
- Provides age-specific care to patients from neonates through geriatrics.

- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Qualifications: Education - Associate's Degree Completion of an accredited 2 year program in a school of Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology (Required) or
- Other Accredited Program Completion of an accredited 2 year program in a school of Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology (Required)
Work Experience - MR scanning experience. (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities - Knowledge of sterile and surgical procedures. (Required proficiency)
- Knowledge of MRI equipment and safety in MRI environment. (Required proficiency)
- Knowledge of radiology information system. (Required proficiency)
- Basic knowledge of oxygen tanks, suction machine and emergency equipment. (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications - Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT:R) (Preferred) or
- Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) (Required) or
- Registered Technologist Radiation Therapy (ARRT-T) (Required) or
- ARDMS (Required)
- Registered Technolgoist MRI (ARRT-MR) within 1 Year (Required) and
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Upon Hire (Required) and
