It is an instructor position for a fall, spring, or summer graduate level science or education course. Applications will be accepted on a continual basis and will be maintained in a pool for two years. The purpose of this position is to secure qualified science and education instructors to teach MSSE online and campus science and education graduate courses. After two years, candidates will be asked to re-submit materials for continued consideration. The department hiring authority will review and evaluate the application materials. Applicants will be notified if their application is being retained in the non-tenure-track faculty hiring pool. Appointments are on a part-time basis and vary in duration, a couple weeks, a semester or an academic year, depending on the specific needs of the department or program. Salary is dependent on the number of courses taught and duration. MSU recognizes the importance of work-life integration and strives to be responsive to the needs of dual career couples.Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo revise and update the assigned science or education graduate course.To teach MSSE online and/or campus field/lab science courses in the disciplines of Ecology, Biology, Chemistry/Biochemistry, Earth Science/Geology, Land Resources and Environmental Science, Microbiology, Physics, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Plant Science as well as Education during fall and/or spring semesters and/or summer session.Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & SkillsDoctoral or master degree in science, science education, engineering, agriculture or other science education fields.University teaching experience, and/or experience teaching K-12, and/or experience working as an education coordinator or curriculum developer in public or private organizations.Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & SkillsFamiliarity with national standards and guideline for science teacher education and distance learning.Experience in development, delivery and assessment of graduate courses.The Successful Candidate WillPossess the ability, skills, and knowledge to successfully engage and educate graduate students.Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision, while establishing effective working relations with graduate students.Ability to develop, deliver and assess innovative graduate level courses.Ability and knowledge to successfully teach in a distance delivery mode.Have a commitment to interdisciplinary education.Position Special Requirements/Additional Information: This position MAY BE a Union position.
