Center for Family Life in Sunset Park, a nationally-recognized social service program in Sunset Park Brooklyn, is seeking a MSW Program Coordinator to work with school-aged participants in one of our ten school-based programs and their families. Our school-based programs provide a diverse range of daily after-school activities, evening clubs and classes, and in-school programming. Program components are implemented by professional social workers, artists, and young adults from the community, in collaboration with teachers and school administrators. Our ideal candidate has knowledge and experience in Social Group Work and will bring a passion for neighborhood-based work to enrich the lives of youth, families, and community.
I. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to
- Be an active member of the leadership team of social workers, artists, and youth development professionals overseeing one of Center for Family Lifes school-based programs
- Support Program Director(s) to supervise daily afterschool program, which includes a full menu of Literacy, Arts & STEM learning enrichment and leadership development activities, homework assistance, and supper program
- Support Program Director(s) in the development of community partnerships and staff-led activities for a diverse menu of neighborhood center evening programming for all ages
- Supervise 2 evening neighborhood center programming nights per week
- Collaborate with school staff to implement afterschool and neighborhood center programming based on community interests and needs
- Develop and lead a variety of afterschool groups and activities that foster leadership development, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), and civic engagement
- In collaboration with colleagues, plan and implement program-wide performances, field trips, celebrations, and other family engagement events
- Work closely with parents and families of youth enrolled in afterschool program
- Provide crisis intervention with onsite participants and make referrals, as necessary
- Co-supervise young adult staff; design and run weekly staff professional development meetings, provide regular individual supervision and mentoring
- Administrative tasks related to the program and the site
- Assist with the management of the program budget
- Track, review, and analyze enrollments, attendance, and outcome data
- Weekly evening hours and some weekend hours are required throughout the year
II. QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's in social work or related field required
- Bilingual Spanish/English or Mandarin/English preferred
- Interest and commitment to learning and working within a social group work model
- Highly organized and able to manage time efficiently
- Experience with and passion for facilitation of groups with children and/or teens
- Ability to be a genuine and positive member of a team, be flexible
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Skills in supervising program staff
- Strong interpersonal, administrative, and organizational skills
- Interest in working with participants with some challenging behaviors
III. RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS
- Build and maintain close, daily interactions with co-workers and supervisors
- Effectively communicate with outside agency staff
- Have a strong sensitivity to cultural differences present among staff and clients within our organization.

IV. WORKING CONDITIONS
- Flexible working in an office setting and non-traditional classroom spaces
- May be exposed to all weather conditions and might be required to work in various temperatures in order to facilitate activities in various locations inside and outside of the school building
- May also attend various meetings with different departments
- Evening and occasional weekend hours required
- This is a fully in-person position
V. Salary
This is a full-time, in-person position, based on a typical 35-hour work week. Annual salary ranges from $55,000 - $65,000 and is commensurate with experience and education.
