Recognizing its excellence in nursing care, Barnes-Jewish Hospital was the first adult hospital in Missouri to be certified as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.Preferred QualificationsRole PurposeThe Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) I performs processing and routine testing on blood and other specimens which requires a knowledge and understanding of quality control, basic instrument maintenance, and procedure methodologies and reference ranges. Demonstrates good laboratory practices.ResponsibilitiesOperates all instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results. Performs all testing and operation of equipment as necessary to deliver quality results.Reports results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turn around times for routine testing and stats.Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary.Participates in performance improvement activities and initiatives by proactively diagnosing and resolving problems. Specific quality functions are handled in an organized and timely fashion.Minimum RequirementsEducationBachelor's Degree - Physical/Life Science/relatedExperience
