Job Description Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:Prepare and assist patients for exams as requested by a physician. As well as review patient orders in advanced to ensure proper exam has been requested.Educate patients about the procedures to be performed including contrast material administration and its possible contraindications and adverse effects.Set up equipment and apparatus by selecting appropriate protocols and required for any prescribed procedures.Perform Bone Density exams.Operates Radiographic equipment for diagnostic quality imaging for Radiologist interpretation.Radiologic technologists must follow physicians' orders precisely and conform to regulations concerning the use of radiation to protect themselves, their patients, and their coworkers from unnecessary exposure.Help patients transfer to the detector or exam table and ensuring adequate patient immobilization to perform radiologic exam.Performs examinations and follows standard protocols per modality.Maintains room cleanliness after exams and procedures. Adheres to infection control standards specific to patient care.Technologist must follow physicians' orders precisely and conform to regulations concerning the use of radiation to protect themselves, their patients, and their coworkers from unnecessary exposure.Assumes accountability for managing delivery of care and patient safety.Prepares patient for procedures providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation and minimize anxiety.Assesses / Screen's patient for potential risk factors. Documents patient history and pertinent information.Follows appropriate departmental protocol for procedures unless specified otherwise by the Radiologist.Ensures proper identification of patient demographics.Communicate with attending Radiologist and verifies provider orders.Produces quality diagnostic images for interpretation.Prioritizes and organizes work assignments and adjusts priorities based on changing situations.Exercises proper precautions to ensure the safety of patients and staff while performing duties.Ensure equipment is in acceptable condition by conducting routine quality control checks.Prepares and assists in the administration of contrast materials.Verify proper patient identification on the study and route it PACS. Send required information to Virtual Radiologic when indicated.Promote and follow WMG policies, rules, and regulations.Execution of related duties as necessary or as assigned.Qualifications: New York State License and ARRT Certification with two or more modalities; Mammography, MRI, CT, X-ray (including Bone Density).BLS certification is required.1-3 years' experience required.Maintaining superior diagnostic imaging in accordance with standardized procedures.Excellent patient and people skills. Ability to maintain a great knowledge in human anatomy and cross section anatomy, and pathology. Able to communicate urgent findings with Radiologist.Proper positioning skills, and appropriate utilization of protocols and scanning techniques.High knowledge with variety of routine procedures and applications.Ability to maintain continuing education credits and professional licenses required by the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Environmental Protection and The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
