Job Summary
Under basic supervision, the Multi-Service Clerk provides customer service and general assistance to customers in person, electronically and over the phone. Collects and processes a variety of paperwork and payments and maintains accurate records of all transactions.
Job Responsibilities

Answers and screen phone calls or electronic requests; provides information or redirects call to appropriate parties; greets walk-in visitors responds to inquiries and provides directions as needed.
Assists customers with filling out and completing paperwork; collects, reviews, and processes documents and forms; may collect payments for fees and fines.
Files documents and maintains accurate physical and electronic filing systems. May ensure accurate indexing of documents.
Receives, sorts, and distributes mail; may maintain a log of all incoming certified or traceable mail.
Maintain electronic database with recently recorded documents and upload to County website.
Execute certified copies of vital records in accordance with policies and procedures set by the Iowa Department of Public Health.
Process and issue marriage certificates/licenses.
Issues Department of Natural Resources licenses and registrations/titles.
Serve as back up to all sub-department specialists.
Demonstrates the ability to exemplify, by his/her actions, the County PRIDE philosophy.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Standards For Initial Consideration
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:
High school diploma or GED equivalent; AND one (1) year of previous clerical experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. General knowledge of real estate documents beneficial to positions in the Recorder's Office.
Knowledge of:
General office practices, procedures, and equipment.
Customer service principles, practices, and etiquette.
Records maintenance and retention policies and procedures.
Real Estate documents and recording documentation
Iowa Department of Natural Resources rules and regulations as it relates to operating boats, off road vehicles and snowmobiles in the state of Iowa.
Skill in:
Problem solving issues utilizing related manuals.
Handling cash and making correct change; balance cash drawer.
Completing basic mathematic calculations.
Typing and entering data with speed and accuracy in office specific software programs.
Balancing a cash drawer.
Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

Physical Demands and Working Environment:
Work is performed in a standard office environment.
Position in Recorder's Office may be required to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
