The HR Generalist will provide staffing support and work with managers and employees, to ensure understanding of policies, procedures and benefits. This position requires a high degree of organization, planning, task management and accuracy.JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Partners with hiring managers to ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained. Includes posting requisitions, outreach initiatives, sourcing resumes, and preparing offers. Collects pre-employment screening results to assist in making employment decisions and coordinates employee orientation.
- Represent company at trade schools, colleges/universities, professional organizations, and job fairs, as needed.
- Maintains electronic personnel files ensuring all necessary forms and documents are completed and uploaded to the HRIS.
- Responsible for compliance with I9 completion and retention, E-Verify, reasonable accommodations and posted notices.
- Answers employee and management inquiries regarding company policies, procedures and programs.
- Ensures accurate completion of payroll.
- Processes employment actions including onboarding, direct deposit, pay changes, promotions, demotions, transfers and terminations.
- Provides communication and facilitation of the annual benefit open enrollment process and answers routine benefits questions for managers and employees.
- Conducts exit interviews.
- Assists and guides managers in the disciplinary action process and enters disciplinary action data into the HRIS system and bonus spreadsheets.
- Maintains employee turnover tracking and makes recommendations to management based on findings and HR best practices.
- Conducts internal investigations and assists with any EEOC/DOL investigations.
- Partner with managers to ensure all performance and employee relations concerns are handled in timely and tactful manner and escalated as needed.
- Administers Affirmative Action Planning process.
- Coordinates company representation in unemployment compensations claims.
- Works with the Human Resources Team to assist with the planning, communicating and tracking of company-wide special events.
- Facilitate and/or participate in manager and supervisor training, as needed.
- Tracks and coordinates employee review schedules and ensures information is in the HRIS.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communication or related field
- 2 years Human Resources/ Payroll/Training.
- PHR certification preferred
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to manage simple to complex situations requiring a well-developed sense of organizational prioritization.
- Ability to think analytically and resourcefully draw accurate conclusions.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
- Basic knowledge of human resources principles, practices, and law.
- Knowledge of employee benefits, staffing processes, and HRIS systems and report capabilities.
- Ability to promote and foster diversity and inclusion.
- Ability to use an array of software packages, including MS Outlook, Word, Power Point, Excel, and Access.
- Ability to adapt to change and operate rationally under dynamic pressure situations
- Ability to function as team member and effectively build relationships with management, peers, staff and clients.
- Ability to meet deadlines and set priorities with effective distribution of time and effort.
- High degree of autonomy, yet team oriented with ability to work cross functionally within a matrix organization.
OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Employees in this job classification must attend and participate in corporation sponsored training courses as assigned.
- Employees in this job classification are responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by Waste Pro.
