Job Description:
This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the process and all associated equipment.This is a day shift position hours 7:00a.m. - 3:30p.m M-F every 3rd weekend on callPosition starts at $30.36` per hourEssential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operates the process in a safe and reliable manner.
  • Operates in compliance with all health, safety and environmental rules and regulations.
  • Communicates maintenance needs as they occur to fellow employees in other departments.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date files and communicating timely and relevant information to fellow workers
  • and/or supervisors.
  • Repairing and performing preventative maintenance on machines and equipment. Such equipment and
  • machines may include grinding mills, sifters, elevators, bag houses, rotary screws, operating control panels,
  • rotary gas dryer, heat exchangers, packaging equipment, and other process equipment. Craft skills which
  • maybe required include: welding, pipefitting, general electric, mechanical fabrication and general repair.
  • Repairing and maintaining equipment consistent with Safety, Environment, Quality, Production, and Cost
  • Control.
  • Receiving physical assets and repair parts and ensuring that these are properly accounted for.
  • Communicating goals and expectations for the department and continuously working, encouraging and
  • expecting an environment of Continuous Quality Improvement. (CQI)
  • Performs housekeeping duties.
  • Has significant responsibility in ensuring compliance to environmental permits and good neighbor principles
  • by monitoring bag house emissions and other potential sources of glass dust.
  • Understands that safe work practices is a condition of employment and is actively engaged in activities such
  • as hazard ID's and assisting in updating work procedures.
  • Participates in plant-wide HSE, quality and productivity initiatives.
  • Participates on the Safety Committee on a voluntary rotating basis.
  • Participates in HSE activities (i.e., Toolbox meetings, monthly plant audits, accident investigations, Hazard
  • IDs, etc.).
  • Performs special projects or other duties as directed.
Minimum Requirements:
  • High school education or equivalent and/or can demonstrate good math and reading skills.
  • One year plus of experience working in an industrial or manufacturing plant environment
  • One year of welding/fabrication experience.
  • Able to follow written and verbal instruction.
  • Able to troubleshoot or diagnosis situations, events or equipment
  • Good interpersonal skills, works well within a team environment.
  • Good decision making skills (makes decisions, acts upon them, willing to defend decisions over peer
  • pressure).
  • Must demonstrate a strong work ethic (attendance, attitude, etc).
  • Understanding of ISO management systems (e.g., 9001, 14001)
  • Understanding of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) principles and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
