Position Summary
The General Obligation Municipal Surveillance team at Assured Guaranty is seeking two interns to join us full time (35 hours) during a 10-week summer internship and on a part-time basis (maximum of 20 hours) during the academic year; Please note that as a student, we anticipate that you will take time off during midterms and finals.
This individual will be responsible for the collection, organization, and dissemination of both quantitative and qualitative data. All information will be used by the group's analysts for surveillance reviews, reports and presentations.
Primary Responsibilities
* Collect and input data from various sources including news articles, financial websites, obligor websites, annual disclosures and financial statements
* Review financial statements (with a focus on specific funds) and annual disclosures to determine trends in reserves, liquidity and economic conditions
* Organize information for quick dissemination via the company's electronic data management system
* Assist analysts with the preparation of monthly sector review presentations
Candidate Background and Qualifications
* Minimum 3.5 GPA
* Currently enrolled in a 4-year degree program. Preference will be given to rising Juniors and Sophomores (in Fall 2025) with majors in: Public Administration/Public Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business
* Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing
* Ability to use various external and internal software, IT systems, and other sources of information (Assured will train you on systems)
* Strong Microsoft Office skills-particularly Excel
* Must be detail oriented, highly organized and able to multi-task
The salary for the position is expected to be from $28 per hour to $32 per hour. The actual salary will depend on various factors, including but not limited to a candidate's experience and credentials, salary expectations of applicable candidates, and other applicable market conditions. This position provides a weekly all-firm catered breakfast (Tuesday) and lunch (Wednesday) as well as intern-specific meals and events.
Note: A housing stipend may be available for interns who live outside of the New York metropolitan area and move to the New York metropolitan area for the internship, subject to certain conditions.
