  • Utilizes computerized system to maintain maintenance and repair records for industrial plant equipment and machinery. s
  • Performs pre-operational inspection of disassembly equipment to include hydraulic valve settings.
  • Inspects modifications of missiles and missile components.
  • Inspects and removes explosives (if aboard), rocket motors, squibs, and any other hazardous device to completely inert missile.
  • Utilizes specialized test equipment to perform maintenance on missiles.
  • Utilizes computerized system to maintain maintenance and repair records for industrial plant equipment and machinery.
  • Ensures electrical connections are disconnected prior to transporting to storage or demilitarization operation.
  • Assures that machine capacities are not exceeded.
  • Operates technically complicated equipment that may be chemical, mechanical and or electrical in function.
  • Advises employees on task to be performed, work requirements, methods, and procedures.
  • Uses blueprints, diagrams, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to efficiently operate and troubleshoot Ammunition Peculiar Equipment (APE).
Requirements Conditions of Employment
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facility responsibilities and requires successful completion of training IAW ANAD's RCRA permit.
  • This position requires the incumbent to comply with the Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements. This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP), governed by AR 600- 85, subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.
  • Applicants selected will be required to sign a DA Form 5019 (Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as Critical under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program)
  • This position requires the incumbent to satisfactorily complete and pass the annual Medical Examination administered by the Anniston Army Depot.
  • This position requires the incumbent to meet the requirements of AMC-R 350-4, Training and Certification Program for Personnel Working in Ammunition Operations.
  • This position requires the incumbent to successfully meet and maintain the requirements of the Physical Security of Arms, Ammunitions and Explosives IAW AR 190-11.
  • This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. This position authorizes the incumbent to carry a firearm.

  • Physical Effort: Moderate physical exertion is required. Work requires standing, stooping, bending, and lifting (occasionally items weighing up to 50 pounds) most of the time and continuous physical activity in handling, pulling, turning, and pushing of missiles and dollies. Requires lifting and carrying items (tools, equipment parts and components) from 10 to 40 pounds (and occasionally items weighing up to 50 pounds- require a pre-employment physical). Work can require large amounts of walking (five to ten miles) between controls areas and equipment bays. Operators are required to bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods of time to work around the equipment during operations and troubleshooting activities. Workspace is limited in many instances requiring operators to be in awkward positions for periods of time. Work requires going up and down steps and on elevated structures (12 to 14 feet high). Incumbent must pass physical examination for working with and handling hazardous propellants and explosives.
  • Working Conditions: Work is generally performed inside well lighted, climate-controlled buildings. Work is occasionally performed outside with some exposure to weather extremes. Some missiles or rocket assignments require incumbent to wear full protective clothing including acid proof coveralls (insulated during winter months); rubber suit, aprons, boots, and gloves; and protective hoods. Must wear safety glasses while removing port plugs. Exposure to propellant fumes, oil, grease, paint, cleaners, thinners, etc. Work includes donning full protective clothing (Tyvek and full face/half mask respirators) when performing pollution abatement system maintenance. Operators subject to profuse perspiration and extreme fatigue when working in protective clothing. Operators are subject to injuries such as cuts, bruises and burns while performing equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Operators are exposed to high heat situations from the energetics thermal treatment equipment. Protective clothing for high heat equipment is required. Operators are subject to broken bones and injuries from falls when climbing steps and working on elevated structures. Operators are required to wear fall protection harnesses in some situations. Operators are exposed to electrical shock and burns. Arc rated protective clothing is required for electrical work.
