We also seek to attract culturally and academically diverse faculty who value working with diverse students.SalaryThe salary and rank are commensurate with education and experience.Job Summary/Basic FunctionThe School of Music at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, 11-month, tenure-track faculty position (#131310) as Director of Athletic Bands at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2025.The successful candidate will be well-versed in contemporary approaches to athletic band pedagogy and programming, promote a student-centered learning environment, and positively represent the department and university to the broader community.Key Responsibilities:
- Lead planning, instruction, and administrative coordination of the MTSU Band of Blue and other athletic bands.
- Serve as the primary conductor for the MTSU Symphonic Band.
- Teach courses in music education and/or conducting, which may include courses in band materials and administration, marching band techniques, and other instrumental techniques courses.
- Work collaboratively with School of Music faculty and staff in service of the University Bands and Athletic Bands.
- Promote the department and university through active recruiting and public performance.
- Participate in institutional service and maintain an active record of research or creative activity.
