Music Facilities & Operations ManagerPosting Number: 493732 Type of Position: Full-time Location: Poughkeepsie, NY Categories: School of Communication & the ArtsPosition Title:Music Facilities & Operations ManagerDepartment/School:School of Communication & the ArtsSalary/Pay Rate:$23.00 - $23.69Job Summary:Manage the daily facility and logistical needs of a comprehensive music program which includes the academic music program as well as 20-25 performance ensembles. Duties include providing operational support for all Music Program academic and extracurricular activities, as well as campus and off-campus events where the Music Program is represented. Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining the holdings of the entire inventory of the Music Program library, instruments, and equipment. Incumbent should have operational technical knowledge of running a lighting and sound board, from programming cues to executing production.Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years of related experience
Essential Functions:FACILITY MAINTENANCE
  • Maintain the order and functionality of equipment and instrument storage areas.
  • Maintain the order and functionality of the instrument repair workshop.
  • Maintain the order and functionality of all classrooms and rehearsal spaces
  • Report facility damage as well as damaged or lost inventory.
  • Plan, schedule, and create daily music classroom and ensemble rehearsal set ups that include chair arrangements, music stands, choir risers, staging platforms, large percussion instruments, movement of pianos, occasional recording accessories, etc.
INSTRUMENT/EQUIPMENT INVENTORY MAINTENANCE
  • File and retrieve organizational documents, instrument loan contracts, music library and instrument inventory listings, as well as records of instrument purchases and repairs.
  • Perform annual full inventory upkeep and repair during the summer months.
  • Maintain and safeguard all music program equipment, instruments, uniforms, and hardware.
  • Assembles equipment upon delivery from vendors
  • Works with outside vendors to coordinate preventive maintenance, piano turnings, and instrument and equipment repairs
MUSIC LIBRARY MANAGEMENT
  • Maintain and safeguard all college owned sheet music and library supplies.
  • Responsible for maintenance of all music library holdings, curating the inventory
  • Responsible for the coordination of all sheet music distribution and collection
  • Responsible for filing and cataloguing all sheet music acquisitions
  • Guides the work of student volunteer librarians
PRODUCTION LOGISTICS
  • Coordinate and execute all equipment moves to on- and off-campus venues for Music Program performances/events
  • Coordinates with other campus agencies/outside vendors to ensure production needs of the Music Program are met
  • Guides student volunteers during equipment crews and production setup and strike.
  • Can set and run lighting and sound cues for a variety of performances. Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree in a music or mechanic related field
  • Bachelor's degree in music related field or technical theater
