- Develop lesson plans to include a balanced music program and organize daily class time so that preparation, rehearsal, and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time.
- Teach courses in music utilizing curriculum and other appropriate learning activities.
- Teach music appreciation, music history and music theory.
- Promotes and directs the band.
- Adapts curriculum to provide individual, small group, or remedial instruction to meet the needs of individual students.
- Evaluates each student's musical growth and performance.
- Plans, rehearses and directs students in musical programs for the school.
- Manage materials and equipment effectively.
- Request books, musical instruments, and instructional aides; maintains required inventory records.
- Maintains the storage and use of school-owned property; makes adjustments and requests repairs to instruments as required.
- Will accompany groups during the presentation of music/fine arts/band programs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Ability to:
- Provide specialized resource support and coordination of a creative and innovative music instruction and band program.
- Analyze and assess music program needs, and offer recommendations pertaining to program activity revisions, additions, or deletions.
- Establish and maintain effective organization, community, and public relationships.
