We are expanding our services and seeking a passionate Music Therapist with teaching experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring a unique blend of therapeutic expertise and educational strategies to support diverse learners and program participants.Position SummaryThe Part-Time Music Therapist will design and deliver engaging, therapeutic music programs that meet the developmental, emotional, and cognitive needs of students and program participants. This role also includes incorporating teaching strategies to develop participants' skills in music performance, composition, or other relevant areas.RequirementsKey Responsibilities
Therapeutic Interventions: - Plan and facilitate individual and group music therapy sessions tailored to participants' needs.
- Utilize music to promote emotional regulation, social skills, and cognitive development.
- Maintain detailed records of participants' progress and adjust interventions as needed.
Teaching & Instruction: - Develop and deliver lesson plans for music education sessions aligned with MusicBreeds' curriculum.
- Teach basic to intermediate-level music skills, including instrument instruction, vocal training, or music theory.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to students in both therapeutic and educational settings.
Collaboration & Communication: - Collaborate with program staff, including Senior Program Managers and Support Services Coordinators, to align therapy and teaching goals with overall program objectives.
- Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and other stakeholders about participant progress.
Program Development: - Assist in developing innovative program content that integrates therapeutic goals with educational outcomes.
- Provide feedback and recommendations for enhancing MusicBreeds' offerings based on participant outcomes.
Administrative Duties: - Maintain accurate session notes and prepare periodic reports as required.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and program evaluations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy, Music Education, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Board Certification in Music Therapy (MT-BC) or eligibility to become certified.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a music therapist, preferably with youth or diverse populations.
- Proven teaching experience in music education, including lesson planning and classroom management.
- Strong knowledge of therapeutic music techniques and educational methodologies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate participants.
Preferred Skills and Attributes
- Experience working with underserved or neurodiverse populations.
- Proficiency in multiple instruments or vocal performance.
- Familiarity with social-emotional learning (SEL) and trauma-informed care principles.
- Flexibility to adapt to the dynamic needs of participants and programs.
