Transferable Skills: Develop transferable skills in communications, public history, and digital media Learn about marketing, research, editorial work, and non-profit management Duties and Responsibilities: The Norwegian American Historical Association is seeking an assistant to carry out communication, publication, and marketing initiatives. Responsibilities include: Research and create organizational messaging, such as website and newsletter content; Assist with preparing content for book and journal publication; Create social media posts; Maintain online publications shop; Provide general support for the NAHA staff as assigned. About the Norwegian-American Historical Association: With one of the oldest and largest ethnic manuscript collections in the United States, the Norwegian-American Historical Association (NAHA) is a leader in the field of ethnic migration studies. The NAHA archival collection includes letters, ledgers, books, periodicals, photographs, diaries, and audio and video recordings. The materials bring life to thousands of individuals, organizations, and businesses comprising the Norwegian diaspora in North America since migration began in the early 19th century. Since its founding in 1925, NAHA has been located on the campus of St. Olaf College. Although both institutions are independent entities, they maintain close cooperation on common causes. The NAHA archives are located in the special collections area of Rlvaag Memorial Library. Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills) We are looking for students who have strong oral and written communication skills, work well independently and collaborate effectively, have excellent attention to detail, strong work ethic and reliability, and an interest in nonprofit communication, archives, and/or history.
