My son is currently 2.5yo and in daycare full time. I work from home (m - f 830 to 430) and am due with baby number two in May, at which point he will be six weeks shy of three. My husband and I are exploring alternate care options to see what might work with our goals and budget.Goals for us include spending more time with our kids, being able to have them home more. In particular since I work remotely I would love to be able to see them periodically throughout the day and help out with them, work schedule permitting. At the same time, our son loves seeing other kids in daycare, so we would like to maintain some socialization for him possibly through part time pre-k or group care, which would require pick up and drop off responsibilities nearby. Everything is very tentative for us at this point, I realize it may be too soon for us to post here since we are still figuring things out. We would consider transitioning him out of daycare or to part time and starting with a nanny in the new year before the second baby arrives. We are hoping to gain more of an understanding of what sort of rates might be acceptable for a toddler and a baby, for full time work in the 30 to 40 hours per week range.
