Position Summary:
The NASNTI Coordinator will focus on building capacity for Native-serving programs and supports, connecting students to resources and ensuring that all campus centers/programs are Native student ready. FLC's NASNTI (Native American-Serving Nontribal Institutions) Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, in partnership with on-campus and off-campus stakeholders, programs and services that support the academic success, cultural enrichment, and personal development of Native American students. This role focuses on best practices for Native American student success, retention, and wellbeing. The NASNTI Coordinator will be responsible for initiatives of the Title III NASNTI POWER Project Grant, including creating culturally responsive models of mentorship, implementing innovative curricular structures that increase access and completion, and strategic recruitment of Native high school and transfer students to FLC.
Job Description:
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
* Develop and facilitate cultural programming and culturally relevant academic support embedded in summer retention programs, including Maymester, Summer Bridge, and Peak Experiences.
* Training for faculty and peer mentors for student retention programs.
* Collaborate with partner offices/programs to ensure that services across campus are Native student ready.
* Collaborate with the NAC's Student Success Coordinator to develop campus-wide partnerships to increase support for Native students and increase capacity for work currently housed in the NAC.
* Lead intentional connections between work in the NAC and campus-wide Native student ready initiatives.
* Enhance models of peer mentorship in summer retention programs to ensure that they are culturally relevant.
* Support Native American Compass students with ongoing programming for community building and cultural connection.
* Consult with Vice President of Diversity Affairs and FLC NASNTI Fellows to design and deliver related student programming as appropriate.
* Coordinate activities, programming, and professional development for FLC/SJC faculty and staff related to initiatives and priorities of the FLC/SJC NASNTI Fellows.
* In collaboration with the SJC/FLC Centers for Teaching and Learning, plan and implement the annual POWER Teaching Conference for regional educators.
* In collaboration with Career and Life Design, develop programming and mentoring for Native students' post-graduation success.
* Collaborate with FLC Admission Office and Diversity Affairs to implement innovative strategies to recruit Native American high school students.
* Design and deliver cohort-building programming to support Native American students transferring from San Juan College as part of the College Connect program.
* Design and coordinate Peak Experience for SJC College Connect students.
* Assist Diversity Affairs and Academic Affairs with the collection, interpretation, and dissemination of data related to FLC Native American student success and wellbeing.
* Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders to ensure programs are culturally appropriate and effective.
* Advocate for the needs and interests of Native American students within the college and the broader community.
* Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as work with broadly diverse communities.
* Maintain knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 508.
* Produce and remediate digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Specialized Skills and Experience:
* Bachelor's Degree required
* Two or more years' experience with student development and program planning
* Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and student success, as well as experience working with broadly diverse communities
* Excellent organizational skills
* Strong communication skills, both oral and written
* Ability to maintain confidential information and files
* Experience with project/program coordination/management
* Computer skills, including word processing and data entry (i.e. Microsoft Office)
* High motivation and commitment to Fort Lewis College, including the ability to self-start, be calm under pressure, meet deadlines, work without direct supervision, be able to multi-task, problem-solve, and relate to a variety of personalities under diverse circumstances
* Ability to represent Fort Lewis College in a positive, professional manner
* Flexible schedule to accommodate occasional evening and weekend activities
Preferred Education, Specialized Skills and Experience:
* Master's Degree in related fields of Education, Counseling, Public Administration, Psychology, Native American Studies
* Previous experience in coordinating programs and events to a degree of technicality that involves knowledge of planning and implementing programs on a college campus
* Experience working with Native American students and/or communities
* Aware and knowledgeable of the tribal diversity within FLC student body
* Experience working with a diverse population and understanding of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Reports To / Supervisory Responsibility:
The position will report to the Academic Hub Director in consultation with the Native American Center Assistant Director.

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $49,000 to $53,000. Plus a comprehensive benefits package.
