This role is pivotal in managing and guiding the Business Development, Estimating, and Marketing teams to success. The Business Unit Leader will be responsible for developing strategic client relationships, ensuring we pursue relevant projects, overseeing the timely and accurate completion of estimates, and maintaining performance standards across all business activities. This leader will also be instrumental in analyzing and reporting on performance to drive continued growth and efficiency within the division.Who we are: Byers Industrial Services, originally founded as Byers Electrical Construction in 1972, has grown from a small electrical contractor to a leading multifaceted industrial service provider.   • Strategic Leadership: Lead the Business Development, Estimating, and Marketing teams to ensure they are aligned with the company's strategic objectives and consistently pursuing relevant and profitable construction opportunities.
  • Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key clients and industry partners, identifying opportunities to grow the company's national construction footprint.
  • Opportunity Management: Evaluate and prioritize incoming project opportunities to ensure we are pursuing the most relevant and high-value projects for the company.
  • Estimate Oversight: Review the status of outgoing estimates to ensure accuracy, punctuality, and competitiveness, while working closely with the Estimating team to meet client and company deadlines.
  • Performance Monitoring: Develop and present monthly reports on individual team performance and overall business unit progress, including tracking backlog and ensuring it aligns with company performance standards.
  • Team Development: Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to team members in the Business Development, Estimating, and Marketing departments, helping them achieve their goals and develop professionally.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with other business unit leaders, senior management, and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless coordination on national construction projects and initiatives.
The ideal candidate should possess:
  • Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in the construction industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership or business unit management role.
  • Team Leadership: Proven experience in managing Business Development, Estimating, or Marketing teams, with strong team-building and leadership abilities.
  • Industry Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of the national construction market, including project estimating, client relationship management, and market trends.
  • Strategic Thinker: Ability to think strategically and drive long-term growth, while balancing short-term operational needs.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong proficiency in reviewing estimates, financial reports, and key performance metrics to drive informed decision-making.
  • Client-Focused: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a client-first mindset and the ability to cultivate lasting relationships.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Experience in creating and presenting detailed performance reports to senior leadership.
  • Education: A degree in construction management, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
