NATIONWIDE SEARCH: CHATHAM, NJ A lovely family with one developmentally disabled 28-year-old son (who looks like a child at 96 lbs.) is seeking a unique SPECIAL NEEDS FULL-TIME LIVE IN CAREGIVER to join their household! He is developmentally disabled, with no specific diagnosis, and requires daily medical treatment. He exhibits no aggressive behavior whatsoever. His parents are fighting two chronic illnesses of their own, so they need someone to step in and care for their son in ways they can no longer. He is an exceedingly loving guy with a great personality and a sense of humor, he loves everyone, and everyone loves him!
Core hours are M-F 4p-8p; Sat & Sunday 8a-8p. The family seeks a caregiver who is essentially on-call and can be flexible 24/7. Someone who can incorporate into their family and jump in when needed! They seek candidates who see this role as more than just a jobsomeone who can truly support and care for the family and become an integral part of their lives, stepping in as needed. Ideal candidates should not have a second job and instead commit to working solely with the family who can guarantee pay for a minimum of 40 hours/week. They are offering PTO + medical benefits. Salary is negotiable commensurate with qualifications and experience.
A LIVE-IN arrangement is ideal. Depending on the candidate, might be open to providing you with your own local residence.
You will be responsible for engaging with their son in all his activities of daily living. These include things like organizing his medications, preparing meals, running errands with him, helping him do his laundry, and engaging with Michael in conversation, games, and walks.
They are looking for an extremely nurturing, responsible, and meticulous person who pays attention to details and is medically savvy. Equally important is someone punctual, reliable, and able to make a long-term commitment. START DATE IS ASAP!
Candidates must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record, a reliable vehicle for transportation, and have experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
