POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary role of the Natural Gas Scheduler is to manage all facets of processing plant and interstate pipeline scheduling on one or more MPLX gathering systems and to ensure accurate and complete accounting of production and gas deliveries to interstate pipelines. The role is responsible for forecasting, scheduling and balancing MPLX gathering system production with producers, shippers, and interstate pipelines. This role reports directly to the Manager, Natural Gas Scheduling for the Southwest Operations area.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* It is the scheduler's responsibility to ensure proper commodity movement and minimize shipper imbalances on gathering systems and OBA imbalances on interstate pipelines.
* Have knowledge of interstate pipeline delivery point economics to effectively communicate with marketing representatives and ensure seamless execution of marketing deals and commodity movements.
* Retrieve, compile, input, and processes commodity movements daily into complex excel spreadsheets and the Quorum Gas Scheduling system while ensuring accurate reporting of allocation and imbalance information to internal and external customers.
* Have extensive knowledge of and experience with Interstate Pipeline Electronic Bulletin Boards (EBBs).
* Develops subject matter expertise on all logistics based scheduling systems and plans.
* Work closely with company personnel including traders, field and plant operators, accountants, contract administrators, measurement, business development, internal audit, and risk management. The scheduler also works closely with producers, shippers, and interstate pipeline representatives.
* Works closely with customers, traders, contracts, accounting, and business development in executing, implementing, and monitoring contracts to ensure compliance and penalty avoidance.
* Works to ensure adherence to internal controls as defined by the Risk Management Policy.
* Demonstrate motivation to gain expertise in the energy commodity field and drives for successful results.
* Must be willing to work unusual/extended hours as necessary during seasonal peaks which may include partial weekend coverage. Individual must have ability to handle heavy workloads in a potentially stressful environment with multiple deadlines.
* Must be decisive, detail oriented, have strong problem solving/analytical skills and must constantly strive for process improvement.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
* Bachelor's degree required from four-year College or University in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Supply Chain/ Logistics, or related field.
* 4+ years of experience with natural gas and scheduling preferred
* Willingness to gain in-depth understanding of additional plant/gathering assets to be able to provide coverage for co-workers.
* Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Advanced knowledge of Excel including experience with, but not limited to Macros, Pivot Tables, Lookups, Linking and Formulas. Experience with relational databases such as MS Access a plus. Experience with Quorum Gas Scheduling and Right Angle is highly desired.
