JOB DESCRIPTION
Insight Global is seeking an experienced Civil or Structural Engineer (7+ years) to support FEMA Building Science in enhancing natural hazard resiliency for an engineering company. Responsibilities include researching building damage causes, developing mitigation measures, and communicating findings to stakeholders. The role involves creating technical publications, delivering training, and supporting the development of building codes and FEMA policies. The engineer will also provide technical support to FEMA and present research outcomes at various events. Collaboration with CDM Smith staff and other contractors is essential. This position offers the option to work remotely anywhere, but is preferred from DC or in Texas. REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
-Bachelor's degree in Forensic Engineering, Civil, Architectural, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
-Professional engineering (PE) license or EIT
-7+ years of related experience.
-Ability to obtain a FEMA Badge (Public Trust background investigation).
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
-Familiarity with residential and commercial building construction.
-Experience in hazard analysis (wind, flood, fire, seismic events).
-Knowledge of building codes and standards (I-Codes, ASCE 7, ASCE 24, NFPA).
-Understanding of FEMA policies and organizational structure.
-VBA programming for Excel
