What You'll Do:
- Plan and perform a wide variety of setups and machining operations on all machine shop equipment, including engine lathe, vertical turret lathe, radial drill press, spindle drill press, shaper, surface grinder, horizontal and vertical milling machines.
- Use all necessary machine attachments, select tools, feeds, and speeds according to material and finish requirements.
- Square up and layout production run or special castings for machining operations to fairly close and close tolerances.
- Work with a variety of metals such as steel, iron, brass, bronze, and aluminum.
- Layout, machine, fit, and assemble jigs and fixtures to facilitate your work.
- Determine operation sequences, make computations for use of dividing head, angles, tapers, fits, and assembly.
- Check parts for adequate finish allowance, defective material, or faulty operation.
- Maintain equipment, machines, and work area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition in compliance with 5S processes.
Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- Minimum of two (2) years of previous work experience in machine setup and operation.
- No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Syracuse, NY, will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of three (3) years of previous work experience in NC/CNC setup and operation.
Skills and Certifications:
- Machine setup in manufacturing.
- Located within 50 miles of Syracuse plant.
