About Our JobThe Denver 9-1-1 National Crime Information Center Division seeking a qualified candidate for the position of NCIC Analyst.The National Crime Information Center (NCIC) is a critical support unit providing 24-hour a day access for officers, investigators. The NCIC Division is an essential personnel unit that provides services to occurrences that affects the general public which requires immediate action that impacts public safety. The Denver 9-1-1 NCIC Division performs a wide variety of support and technical duties including assisting law enforcement personnel apprehend and identify individuals wanted for criminal activities and processes, screens, and enters various law enforcement reports and information into federal, state, and local computer systems the accurate identification of subjects is paramount to ensure that the correct person is being brought to justice and arrest records are accurate. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of work completed by their staff and appropriate actions are taken as outlined in unit policy to remedy any errors in a timely manner.The Denver 9-1-1 NCIC Division is a 24-hour, seven day a week operation, therefore, applicants must be able to work the following:* shift work (day, swing, or graveyard)* work weekends* work holidays and* work overtime on short noticeJob Responsibilities include:* Operating a personal computer, or terminal to collect and enter data on individuals being detained or investigated and establish if the said individual has a warrant(s) for his/her arrest.* Entering and modifying warrants, missing persons, vehicles.* Clear parties for officers as well asready for release, work release, and electronic monitoring.* Responsible for heavy amounts of data entry, document reviews, scanning police documents into files, and entering high priority items such as warrant information, missing persons, and sex offender registrations.* Entering sex offender registration information into multiple law enforcement systems.* Utilizes the NCIC (National Crime Information Center) and CCIC (Colorado Crime Information Center) computer database systems to search and cross reference criminal records for the purpose of identification; while maintaining security and confidentiality of records, equipment, and computer access.* Operate various systems and software to complete a variety of criminal justice tasks that require attention to detail, a high degree of reading comprehension, problem solving and logic.* Handle documents and information that may contain graphic reports and images that some find disturbing.* Carefully reviewing of information that may be confusing, complex and contain intricate details, that if missed or interpreted incorrectly could have serious ramifications to the safety and liberty of others.* Utilize the criminal justice computer system(s) to assist law enforcement personnel in the apprehension and identification of subjects wanted for criminal matters.Below are the minimum requirements used to determine eligibility for this position:* Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.* Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of clerical experience, of which two (2) years of experience must have been in court, law enforcement or legal setting.* Education/Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the education and experience requirements with the exception of the two years of experience in court, law enforcement or legal setting.* License/Certifications: Must be able to pass an initial pre-security clearance screening and maintain CBI (Colorado Bureau of Investigation) certification as a condition of employment.* Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.About Everything ElseJob ProfileCN3111 Law Enforcement Records TechnicianTo view the full job profile including position specifications, physical demands, and probationary period, click here.Position TypeUnlimitedPosition Salary Range$22.76 - $34.14Starting PayBased on education and experienceAgencyEmergency CommunicationsThe City and County of Denver provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, genetic information, age, or any other status protected under federal, state, and/or local law.It is your right to access oral or written language assistance, sign language interpretation, real-time captioning via CART, or disability-related accommodations.
