Join our team and apply today!UDRI seeks candidates experienced in Nondestructive Inspection (NDI) and Evaluation (NDE) Methods applicable to aerospace applications. The ideal candidate would provide experience with aircraft inspections of structures, turbine engine components and support equipment following standard practices and procedures. Experience with development of new inspection approaches utilizing eddy current, ultrasound, fluorescent penetrant, magnetic particle and radiography would also be beneficial. The work to be performed may be on-site in support of the Materials & Manufacturing Directorate, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH or on campus at UDRI Shroyer Park Center. The candidate will work closely with engineers developing new methods for inspecting aerospace structures and characterization of emerging materials including metal alloys, ceramic, polymer and carbon matrix composites.Minimum Qualifications:T3 Minimum Qualifications:•Associates degree or technical training in mathematics, engineering, computer science, physics, or related field.•Minimum of 8 years of directly related experience.•Experience with eddy current and ultrasonic instrumentation, probes and transducers.•Familiar with evaluation and display of eddy current and ultrasonic waveforms. •Experience magnetic particle and/or fluorescent penetrant testing.•Experience with radiographic methods including computed radiograph and computed tomography.•Experience with Microsoft Office applications, specifically data analysis using Excel.•Experience with electronic equipment and computer control software applications.•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.•Interest and ability to communicate and interact with multidisciplinary scientists.•Due to requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. Citizen.T4 Minimum Qualifications •Associates degree or technical training in mathematics, engineering, computer science, physics, or related field.•Minimum of 12 years of directly related experience.•Experience with eddy current and ultrasonic instrumentation, probes and transducers.•Familiar with evaluation and display of eddy current and ultrasonic waveforms. •Experience magnetic particle and/or fluorescent penetrant testing.•Experience with radiographic methods including computed radiograph and computed tomography.•Experience with Microsoft Office applications, specifically data analysis using Excel.•Experience with electronic equipment and computer control software applications.•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.•Interest and ability to communicate and interact with multidisciplinary scientists.•Due to requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. Citizen.Preferred Qualifications:While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:•ASNT level III certification in eddy current, ultrasound, fluorescent penetrant, magnetic particle or radiography.•Demonstrated experience with ASTM, ASNT or USAF inspection procedures, guidelines and reference standards used for aerospace applications.•Experience with methods for destructive characterization and microscopy.•Experience working with socially and culturally diverse community.•Experience with computer control and/or automation methods.Special Instructions to Applicants:To apply please submit a cover letter addressing each minimum qualification and any applicable preferred qualifications that you meet.Closing Statement:Informed by its Catholic and Marianist mission, the University is committed to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
