Job Description:
The purpose of the class is to provide professional planning and community support as well as responsible administrative and clerical support to ensure effective and efficient office operations in the Neighborhood Improvement Program; to assist with routine bookkeeping tasks; and to perform related to the development and implementation of the County's Neighborhood Improvement Program, including aiding in preparation of Neighborhood Master Plans, administration of neighborhood matching grants and neighborhood workshops and leadership trainings. Reports to Planning Services Manager and supports executive level duties involving confidentiality and sensitivity. Performs a wide variety of complicated tasks and related work as required. Responsibilities include research and analysis, monitoring department budget, handling department specific tasks and related work as required. The class works within a general outline of work to be performed, and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision.Supports the development and implementation of the Neighborhood Improvement Program and redevelopment/revitalization planning.Provides administrative support to the Neighborhood Redevelopment division performing such duties as scheduling meetings and appointments, maintaining calendars, screening and sorting daily mail, composing routine and letters, typing memos and correspondence.Establishes and maintains effective record-keeping systems; assists in maintaining accurate databases.Prepares materials for and attends various staff, board, committee and/or commission meetings as required.Assists with the coordination of neighborhood residents and community leaders to develop Neighborhood Master Plans. Makes on-site assessments of neighborhood conditions and needs. Participates in neighborhood design meetings and presentations.Assists in the creation of mechanisms for implementing Neighborhood Master Plans.Administers and accounts for the use of neighborhood matching grants; assists with the production of neighborhood leadership trainings.Provides guidance and assistance to existing and evolving neighborhood organizations and associations; attends and supports neighborhood meetings beyond regular office hours on evenings and weekends; makes public presentations on community planning issues.Develops pamphlets, newsletters, flyers, meeting notices and other literature as required to support neighborhood redevelopment/revitalization efforts; contributes to reports, studies and policy recommendations; assists with updates of the County's comprehensive plan and related implementation tools.This position requires an Associates' degree.Must have well-developed interpersonal communications skills and positive customer-service attitude. Must be competent in the use of a personal computer, spreadsheets, database and geographic information systems applications. Must keep complete, accurate and current records.
