Mount Indie is hiring a Network Engineer to join a team serving the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, NY. The role is onsite at USMA; however, a hybrid/remote work schedule may be accommodated, subject to contract requirements and business needs. As a member of this team, you will support the USMA Networking Service Branch's mission and strategic direction by providing knowledge, techniques, and expertise in configuring and administering a Cisco Networking environment across the USMA campus. Primary Duties & Responsibilities : • 6:00 AM- 2:30 PM shift support for the Networking Operations Center (NOC). • Active participation in all phases of the West Point Research and Education Network (WREN) development life cycle. • Monitor wireless network and remediate potential issues via Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (e.g. 9800-80 and 8540). • Configure and deploy Cisco wireless access points (WAPs) (e.g. 9300/9500 series switches). • Monitor connectivity of endpoint devices through Cisco Identity Service Engine (ISE) and create or modify authorization/authentication policies. • Design and implement network configuration changes and document the security controls and testing of those changes. • Respond to helpdesk tickets involving device connectivity to WREN. • Support bi-weekly shifts for off-hours, on-call network monitoring. Additional duties may include: • Collaboration with other USMA and OTS functions (Cyber, IT support, Enterprise Services, etc.) to resolve network related issues. The nature of the position involves actively participating in multiple working groups and disseminating information across all levels of the organization. • Installation/Replacement/Management of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) devices. Minimum Qualifications : • Associate level of networking certification (e.g., Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) OR CompTIA Net+ AND sec+) and 2-4 years of networking experience. • Ability to configure and modify switchport modes (access/trunk), VLANs, and link aggregation (LACP). • Working knowledge and experience with wired and wireless configuration of Microsoft Windows operating systems. • Demonstrated understanding, articulation, and implementation of best practices related to complex networking projects • Knowledge of help desk support and operation. • Ability to develop, interpret, modify, and maintain configuration management of system security standards, hardware, software, rack diagrams and other network design documentation. Preferred Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline. • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification. • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve Layer 1, Layer 2 and Layer 3 issues. • Familiarity with Cisco Network Management Tools (Prime, DNA Center/Catalyst Center, Firepower Management Center). • Familiarity with Third Party Network applications. (Infoblox, SolarWinds, Cacti). • Support experience working in medium to large (campus-sized) Network Operations Center (NOC). • Knowledge of NIST Special Publication 800-53. • Knowledge of DoD standards 5015.02 and 8510.01.
