Antietam Broadband is looking for a Network Engineer!This position is not remote.This position is responsible for planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining and optimizing all local and wide area network connections, associated software, and communication links. This person will also troubleshoot network performance issues, analyze network traffic, and provide strategic planning solutions. Job Type: Full-time Rate: $100,000-$130,000/year Location: Hybrid, work from home and office in Hagerstown, MD Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Strong CMTS and Fiber to the Premise experience
- Execute manual and/or automated test plans and test cases to validate functionality on network access systems
- Configure and maintain Cisco ASR9000s and related switches and routers.
- Migrate and maintain hosts into segregated, secured network segments with appropriate security policy.
- Strong documentation and creation of process in a form of MOPs, incident reports, change documentation, and network diagrams.
- Communicate best practices to other networking personnel
- Configure and manage Palo Alto Firewalls, Security appliances vital to business applications.
- Design, setup and configure complex switching and wireless networking that supports open or secured access and the ability to support voice and IP video applications.
- Assist in the design of multi-server environments including IP address schemes, DNS, LAG groups
- Maintaining multi-site network operations and software applications, operating system and regular maintenance with both private and public facilities
- Managing assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives.
- Responding to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel and outside vendors, etc. to provide technical assistance and support.
- Supervising the administration of systems and servers related network to ensure availability of services to authorized users.
- Conducts routine network hardware and software audits to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
The successful Network Engineer has:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.
- CCNP route/switch + security, or related advanced certification. Service Provider experience a plus.
- A minimum of 8 years hands-on experience working in a highly available network environment.
- Expert knowledge of networking: TCP/IP, Metro/CarrierE, MPLS, IPSec VPN, Layer 2/3 switching, VLAN, spanning-tree, etc.
- Expert knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), VLANs, VPNs, and Network Security Protocols
- Ability to architect, design, and implement scalable, high-performance network solutions that align with business objectives and growth/expansion strategies.
- Capable with Internet-related systems, DNS, DHCP, HTTP, POP, IMAP, SMTP, NTP, and so on.
- Capable with network account administration, TACACS, RADIUS.
- Profound understanding of network security principles (encryption, authentication, access control) and the ability to design secure network architecture.
- Strong analytical skills to diagnose & resolve complex network issues and identify security vulnerabilities
- Ability to forecast network growth, plan capacity requirements, implement scalable solutions
- Able to use Wireshark, TCPDump, and SNMP monitoring software.
- Ability to implement continuous process improvement.
- Ability to assess and guide procurement of network equipment and related systems.
- Ability to align network architecture decisions with long-term business goals.
