Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities:

Responsible for technical resources for network related projects

Develop an enterprise network architecture strategy to support our growth focused on scalability, performance, and availability

Implement network MPLS circuits and escalate related issues for all NJR locations

Change management process and implementation of network (WAN/LAN), firewall, and router changes to environment

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve hardware, software and other network and system issues

Replacing faulty network hardware components when required

Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot network switches, firewalls, data diodes and routers

Responsible for network patch management (switches, routers and firewalls) deployment

Perform root-cause analysis on IT and end-user support issues; evaluate documented resolutions, analyzing trends and developing appropriate technical or training solutions to prevent future problems

Work with NJR Cyber team on implementation of security controls and directives

Monitors WAN bandwidth utilization and upgrades as necessary.

Position Specifications/Requirements:

Requires Associate's degree in computer science or technical certification; Bachelor's degree with a network engineering focus preferred

5-7 years of network engineering experience with network and security technologies such as intrusion prevention technologies, proxy, VPN and remote access technologies

Experience with Forinet devices, Cisco firewalls, routers and switches product lines

Strong understanding of network infrastructure, hardware, designs and topologies; LAN and WAN experience

Ability to implement, administer and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices and network connectivity issues including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches and controllers

Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols

Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems

Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources

Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization

A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment.

Good analytical and problem-solving skills

Good understanding of information security and best practices

Experience in utility industry and network professional certifications a plus (CCNA, CCNP)

Valid Driver's license as travel will be required from time to time based on the needs of the business.

Position requires working during non-traditional hours for 24/7 support when needed. Must be able to work in a 24-hour rotating On-Call capacity

  • Position is hybrid requiring 3 days onsite in the Wall, NJ Corporate office.
