Job Title: Network Engineer Work Location: 201 Fuller Road, Albany, NY Mode of work- Hybrid Mode of Hire: Contract Duration: 6-36 months Work Arrangement: Up to 50% telecommuting available at agency management's discretion after training.Job Overview: Team is seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer specializing in Palo Alto firewalls to design, deploy, and support secure network solutions. The role requires advanced networking knowledge and the ability to provide expert technical leadership, troubleshooting, and mentorship.Responsibilities:
- Design and implement network solutions using Palo Alto firewall technologies, including App-ID, User-ID, WildFire, IPS, and GlobalProtect.
- Configure and manage firewall rules for security, NAT, QoS, authentication, and decryption.
- Create and maintain profiles for antivirus, anti-spyware, vulnerability, URL filtering, file blocking, and WildFire.
- Deploy and manage high-availability solutions and secure communication via VPNs and IPsec tunnels.
- Oversee Panorama operations, including templates, template stacks, device groups, and log collectors.
- Conduct in-depth network analysis using tools like Zenoss, Splunk, Palo Alto Panorama, and Wireshark.
- Provide 24x7 on-call support on a rotating basis for advanced troubleshooting and escalations.
- Lead capacity planning, network performance analysis, and change control procedures.
- Mentor junior network engineers and oversee cross-disciplinary teams during complex problem resolutions.
Required Qualifications:
Technical Expertise: - Proficiency in Palo Alto firewall technologies, including virtual routers, vsys, and zone protection.
- Knowledge of Layer 3 routing (BGP, OSPF, static) and Layer 2 switching (VLANs, VXLAN, MLAG, VPC).
- Familiarity with DNS, subnetting, and VRFs.
Certifications: - Preferred certifications: CCNA/CCNP, PCNSA/PCNSE, CISSP, Network+, Security+.
Tools Proficiency: - Experience with monitoring and analysis tools like Zenoss, Splunk, Ixia, Gigastor, and Viavi Observer.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Visio for documenting network designs.
Soft Skills: - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and work independently or in a team.
Work Schedule:
- Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM, with occasional weekend work as needed.
- On-call duties: One week of 24x7 support every 6-8 weeks after the training period.
