Network Engineer
Location: Cambridge, MA. Candidate will ideally be able to travel onsite once or twice a week.

Im looking for a seasoned Network Engineer who wants to work in a very cutting edge environment. The work done will not be routine or vanilla as this role entails working for the Med Device Interoperability and Cybersecurity program of Massachusetts General Hospital. Network Infra primarily consists of Dell EMC/ PowerEdge and HP Proliant.

The Massachusetts General Hospital Medical Device Interoperability and Cybersecurity Program Laboratory (MD PnP) is housed in a 3200 square foot facility in Cambridge, MA. Within this facility is a suite of labs including an interoperability research lab, cybersecurity research lab, operations medical device integration lab, electronics lab as well as sophisticated physiological simulation, medical device and networking and server infrastructure.
The core focus of this position is to assist the MD PnP program staff in configuring, maintaining, and upgrading the lab's network and server infrastructure to meet project needs, especially on simulating different health IT environments and healthcare settings. The current networking infrastructure consists of a network closet housing the core wired and wireless networking (gateway, router, firewalls, IDS, managed switches, controller, patch panels), computing cluster, virtual machine cluster, storage server, network manipulation equipment, authentication, and identity management servers, etc.
Expertise Needed
· Subject matter expertise and consultation in areas such as:
o Network architecture design and optimization.
o Troubleshooting complex network issues.
o Network security assessments and recommendations.
o Cloud networking and hybrid infrastructure solutions.
o Network hardware and software evaluations and recommendations.
o Network integration of medical devices and health IT systems
Summary of Responsibilities:
· Provide expertise in network architecture design, troubleshooting, security assessments, cloud solutions, and hardware/software evaluations.
· Maintain and upgrade the hardware and software components within the network infrastructure to ensure functionality, performance, and resilience. Recommend and support the optimization of network performance, security, and infrastructure.
· Tailor support to the Lab's needs, including remote diagnostics, consulting, and configuration guidance.
· Troubleshoot and fix networking issues to restore network performance, security, and reliability.
· Collaborate with team members, customers, and stakeholders to ensure network solutions and configurations align with organizational goals.
· Provide training or knowledge transfer to help Lab personnel maintain and troubleshoot the network.
· Measure and monitor network performance during simulations to support research activities.
· Collaborate with team members to assess network-related cybersecurity threats and solutions.
