Position Overview:

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Network Engineer to join our growing IT team. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge and a proactive approach to maintaining and enhancing the stability, performance, and security of our network infrastructure. This role combines hands-on technical tasks, strategic planning, and cross-departmental collaboration to deliver efficient network solutions and ensure the smooth operation of the company's network environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Network Design and Implementation (40%)

  • Design, plan, and implement network solutions tailored to business needs.
  • Configure and deploy networking hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless devices, and other network components.
  • Optimize network performance for scalability and efficiency.
  • Conduct site surveys and network assessments to ensure network integrity.
  • Regularly review network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations. Utilize performance monitoring tools and analyze data to enhance network reliability.

Network Monitoring and Troubleshooting (30%)

  • Continuously monitor network performance and availability using various tools.
  • Quickly identify and resolve network issues to minimize downtime.
  • Perform root cause analysis for network incidents, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Prepare detailed reports on network performance, security incidents, and ongoing projects for management.
  • Maintain and update network configuration documentation and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Create and update network diagrams and schematics for network architecture.

Network Security (10%)

  • Implement and maintain network security protocols and best practices.
  • Perform routine security audits and vulnerability assessments to ensure the network remains secure.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate security policies and industry standards.
  • Respond to security incidents, coordinating corrective actions and preventive measures.

Collaboration and Support (20%)

  • Collaborate closely with other IT teams to support overall infrastructure.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior engineers and staff on network-related tasks.
  • Assist with configuring and troubleshooting servers, managing user accounts, and supporting backup/recovery operations.
  • Work with vendors and service providers to manage network-related projects and procure network equipment.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support when needed.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies, and assist in the evaluation of vendor proposals for network-related solutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: 5-7 years of hands-on experience in network engineering, with a focus on enterprise-level networking.

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in network devices such as Cisco Catalyst, Meraki switches, Palo Alto firewalls, and Cisco/Meraki access points.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and wireless protocols.
  • Experience with cloud networking solutions, including AWS.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft M365, Visio, and Dell desktop equipment.
  • Familiarity with client VPN and point-to-point VPN solutions.
  • Experience in troubleshooting Windows servers.

Certifications: CCNA or CCNP certification preferred, or other relevant networking certifications.
