Network Engineer- JuniorFt. Belvoir, VAC-CHR-24-039The Network Engineer- Junior contributes to the design and implementation of network infrastructure and resolves network issues. The Network Engineer- Junior performs a variety of broad network engineering tasks focused on the design, implementation, testing, and troubleshooting of the network infrastructure.Duties and Responsibilities:Use Remedy ticket submissions for work assignments responding to critical and VIP tickets within two hours of notification.Interpret and implement the Senior Network Engineer's guidance in support of Network operations for activities, such as installing new modified hardware, operating systems, and software applications ensuring compliance with Information Assurance security integrity requirements.Perform the installation of the LAN, WAN, SONET, and related equipment, maintaining critical components of the ICAN from the edge router to the Area Distribution Switches.Configure and support the use of DoD Common Access Card (CAC) and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) for user authentication into the network, into applications, and for signing and encrypting electronic mail.Complete equipment installations, movements, additions, and changes.Maintain the network infrastructure, including hubs, routers, switches, concentrators, firewalls, virtual private networks (VPNs), SONET multiplexers, servers, storage area nodes (SANs), and cable management systems.Implement and maintain software and application configuration management and configuration reporting.Install and update anti-virus software and anti-virus signature files on all assigned assets.Install security patches to protect against information assurance (IA) vulnerabilities.Implement and apply procedures to ensure only approved personnel have access to the Fort Belvoir network.Install government Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) server-side certificates and implement Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and other secure methods of data transmission, including support to the VPN, VPN servers, CITRIX, and Structured Query Language (SQL) servers.Provide Network Engineering support, such as analyzing the network architecture based on metrics available from the government's network management tools to identify modifications required to maintain optimum efficiency.Test software prior to upgrading network devices (Switches & Routers).Provide customer review, support, and approval for Ports Protocol Services (PPS) for all Firewall implementations.Assist the Firewall Team during implementations and deployments.Engineer long haul base interconnectivity communications for the network system.Develop and test automated processes for deployment of client software packages utilizing existing government tools (i.e., JMN, CHIMERA, GEM-X, CTC, etc.).Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a related field.A combination of experience and training may be used in lieu of a degree.4+ years of experience in network engineering support.Possess Baseline and Full Computing Environment Certifications for IAT-II IAW DoD 8570.01-M and BBP 05-PR-M-0002. CCNP Certification (Enterprise, Service Provider, Data Center, Security, or Collaboration) or higher is required.Secret clearance Tier 5 investigation required.#J-18808-Ljbffr
