Job DescriptionYour RoleThe Data Center and Infrastructure team is responsible for the design, engineering, administration, and support of corporate WAN, LAN and network infrastructure. The Network Engineer, Principal will report to the Director, Technical Operations. In this role you will provide network architecture and design, implement network infrastructure, and provide 3rd level support to enhance the corporate network and its capabilities.Your WorkIn this role, you will:
  • Be the SME in network hardware, software, and technologies
  • Create a robust, supportable network infrastructure to better the users' experience
  • Carry out operational, strategic activities, and change management of all impact and risk levels
  • Develop and maintain technology roadmaps
  • Engage in Incident Response, Audit, and Disaster Recovery practices
  • Define, publish, and maintain network infrastructure standards, and operational documentation
  • Lead proof-of-concept and prototyping efforts in both an infrastructure design and engineering capacity including collecting, analyzing, and documenting results
  • Socialize and promote Network technology offerings
  • Communicate with stakeholders regarding network technology planning, design, requirements, and development activities
  • Perform periodic and emergency system maintenance, minimizing business impact to the greatest extent possible, as well as troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, or other related issues
  • Influence, review and approve support contracts
  • Oversee third-party vendors' performance
QualificationsYour Knowledge and Experience
  • Requires a college degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years of prior relevant experience
  • Prefers a minimum of 7 years of experience in architecting, designing, and implementing network infrastructure
  • Prefers a minimum of 7 years of experience with routers and switches, firewalls, WAN optimizers, Load Balancers, MPLS circuits, VPN
  • Previously worked utilizing the Agile methodology
  • Implementation of IDS/IDP/CTI a plus
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to all levels of IT management and stakeholders
Pay Range The pay range for this role is: $ 145970.00 to $ 218900.00 for California.Note Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade.
