Description SAIC is looking for a Network Engineer Senior who will provide communications and networking systems engineering support to the MQ-4C Triton UAS program. May design, analyze, plan, modify, and maintain networks and network components supporting data, voice and/or audio communication activities. Provide communications systems engineering support of various U/VHF radio communications systems, Common Data Link (CDL) systems, commercial/government satellite communications systems and networks. This Position is onsite in Norfolk, VA. RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Ensure system hardware/software installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities are conducted in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Ensuring that system is made operational and available, at times specified by the customer.
- Ensuring the system is configured in accordance with the Program's Configuration and Data Management Plans.
- Prepares the analysis of short/long term capacity needs for switching, routing transmission, and signaling.
- May conduct network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies as well as internal studies of network performance and traffic analysis.
- May evaluate new technology.
- Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture; providing information for hardware and software selection; and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
- Conducts testing of network systems.
- Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switchers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
- Evaluates and reports on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or related degree and five (5) years or more experience in Configuration Management and Network Administration in a DoD setting. Masters and three (3) years or more experience. Significant experience in lieu of degree.
- TS/ SCI Security Clearance to start.
- Must be able to obtain TS/SCI, W/ CI Poly after start.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Security+ Certification.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with operating systems for military UAS and ground station, their functions, policies, and procedures are desired. Excellent communication skills are required. Tactical Data Links, Military Communications, DOD Networks, GIG, ADNS, Common Data Link (CDL), Link 16, and JTRS is desired.
- Windows and Linux system administrator skills.
- Knowledge on network routing & switching systems (e.g. switches, routers).
- Experience with TACLANES, and other with COMSEC devices.
- Triton unmanned vehicle program experience.
- Knowledge on network defense systems (e.g. firewall, IDS, IPS).
- Good knowledge of any or all the following:
•1. Type 1 Cryptographic products (e.g. KG 175, 175A, 175D, KG 75, KG 75A). •2. TEMPEST; encryption, key management, and communications standards (e.g. Electronic Key Management System (EKMS) Common Tier 1 System). •3. Data Transfer Devices (e.g. AN CYZ 10, Simple Key Loader, DTD2000(KIK20), RASKL (KIK30).
- Knowledge on network simulations and load testing (e.g. CML, GNS3, T-bird, iPerf, Ixia).
- Working knowledge on computer operating systems (e.g. Windows, Solaris, Linux).
- Knowledge on programming/scripting languages (e.g. C, C++, Java, Python, Ansible).
- Knowledge on Virtualization (e.g. VMware).
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent level of Cisco Certification.
- Linux Redhat version 5/6.
- Experience in a VMware environment.
- Possess the skills to exercise independent judgement within broadly defined practices and policies of military data communications.
