Job Description:
As a Network Engineer (Tier III) you are a highly skilled IT professional who can maintain, understand, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with networked systems, servers, workstations and user accounts. Your expert attention provides advanced technical support to ensure the stability and efficiency of IT infrastructure. This role is focused on providing advanced support for network issues that have been escalated from Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams, designing and implementing network solutions, and ensuring the network's overall performance, security, and reliability. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, relationship management skills, and a deep understanding of network protocols and tools. Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert-level troubleshooting for complex network issues, including but not limited to routing, switching, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and wireless networks.
  • Analyze and resolve escalated incidents, ensuring timely resolution to minimize downtime and impact on business operations.
  • Serve as the final escalation point for network-related issues, working with vendors if necessary.
  • Design and implement scalable network solutions to meet the growing needs of clients.
  • Conduct network assessments, analyze current infrastructure, and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Plan, configure, and deploy new network devices and services, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect the network from internal and external threats.
  • Consider and ensure client compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Monitor network performance using advanced tools and techniques, identifying and addressing potential issues proactively.
  • Optimize network performance by fine-tuning configurations, upgrading hardware, and implementing best practices.
  • Conduct regular network audits and capacity planning to ensure the network can handle future demands.
  • Create and maintain detailed network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
  • Provide training and guidance to Tier 1 and Tier 2 support teams, helping them to improve their troubleshooting skills.
  • Document and share knowledge on new technologies, tools, and best practices with the Network Service Delivery team.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including providing regular updates on network status, projects, and incidents.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to ensure reliable network services.
Requirements Required Skills/Experience: •Highly proficient organizational skills and attention to detail •Ability to work independently and as part of a team •Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills •Strong communication and interpersonal skills •Positive role model. •Ability to engage strong problem solving, analytical and team-work skills •High network and server proficiency •In-depth knowledge of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and network services (e.g., DNS, DHCP) •Extensive experience with networking hardware (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers) from vendors such as Cisco, Sonicwall, Fortinet, etc. •Proficiency in network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, PRTG, Domotz). •Strong understanding of network security practices, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and encryption •Extensive experience with Microsoft Windows (e.g., Server, desktop) •Comprehensive understanding and experience with Microsoft 365 •Experience with Google Workspace and/or cloud networking (AWS, Azure) are a plus Education and Experience: •Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field •Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in systems administration or network engineering, with at least 2 years in a Tier 3 or equivalent role •CompTIA A+ Certification, Network+ Certification, Microsoft Certifications, or any other IT Certifications are a plus Reports to: VP of Service Delivery
