Purpose and Scope
Assists in the analysis, installation, testing, implementation and management of District Point of Service (POS), inventory management systems and Central Office operation support and the network application infrastructure. The position is responsible for assisting as a team member with food services network and technical design and implementation projects, providing on-site technical support and training of customers, performing system maintenance and upgrades, and performing related work as assigned. The position works under general supervision independently developing work methods and sequences.
Essential Job Functions
Installs, configures and upgrades computer hardware, software, network systems, telephone systems, peripheral equipment and necessary wiring and cabling. Assists in project planning, presentation and implementation; prepares and recommends network specifications to satisfy customer requirements; prepares technical drawings as needed; assists in developing installation schedules in coordination with department staff and staff in affected areas. Provides remote and on-site software analysis, support and training to customers in both administrative and cafeteria settings. Monitors performance of computer systems; performs routine maintenance; troubleshoots and resolves computer network, hardware, software and peripheral equipment problems; documents problems and resolutions. Assists in performing maintenance upgrades to ensure the currency of network and point of service components. Communicates with vendors to secure assistance in resolving problems, obtain quotes on new products and expedite delivery. Restores deleted or damaged files and folders due to system failures; assists in ensuring system integrity and connectivity. Analyzes, develops and implements ideas for overall improvement of the business operation and workplace efficiency and effectiveness. Serves as liaison between end-users, software vendors and Central Office management in resolving complex technical problems. Ensures the prompt and professional completion of all work orders received, with minimal downtime for system users; documents all assigned projects. Assists in maintaining equipment inventory and tracking equipment location. Performs all duties in accordance with established policies, procedures, specifications, applicable codes and ordinances, and standards of quality and safety. Performs general clerical tasks as necessary, including preparing reports and records, entering and retrieving computer data, preparing spreadsheets, copying and filing documents, receiving and responding to e-mails and faxes, answering the telephone with proficient customer service skills Attends staff, committee and other meetings to exchange information; attends technical workshops, seminars or training to enhance job knowledge and skills. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or other related field plus an additional 2 years related experience, or equivalent, for a total education/experience of 6 years. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).
Degree Equivalency Formula:
Bachelor's Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.
Master's Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master's degrees are required, years for Bachelor's Degrees must be included.
