Neurodiversity Specialist - Grant-Funded (PT)

Salary: $18.00 per hour

This is a grant-funded position. Grant-funded positions expire either at the end of the stated term or whenever funding for the position ceases.

The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a part-time Neurodiversity Specialist in our Office of Accessibility Resources (OAR). The Neurodiversity Specialist primarily supports students with Autism Spectrum (AS), Learning disability, ADHD, and Mental Health. This position provides individualized support services in addition to the services offered to all students with disabilities at MVCC by the Office of Accessibility Resources.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

* Identifies and serves eligible students that are neurodiverse who are attending MVCC, working collaboratively with instructors and staff to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of program participants;

* Delivers direct support to students with neurodiversity to help them develop the necessary skills to become effective self-advocates and productive, contributing members of the student body;

* Advocates on behalf of students with disabilities;

* Maintains accurate electronic, data, case records, and related information to document all services delivered to neurodiverse participants;

* Designs and implements educational support activities, materials, programs, services and strategies for workshops and individual needs of the Neurodiverse students;

* Assists neurodiverse students to navigate the social and academic supports available and identify and implement strategies for skill building and self-advocacy;

* Collaborates with College staff to increase educational opportunities for program participants; assists with the transition to and out of college;

* Encourages student participation in the use of accommodations and services of OAR;

* Performs other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Accessibility Resources and the OAR program targets, benchmarks, and activities.

This is a 10-month position with a work schedule of approximately 15 hours per week during the academic year.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

* Associate degree (or 60 credit hours completed) in Psychology, Special Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, or other Health and Human Services disciplines

* Experience working with young adults with disabilities, specifically with neurodiverse/Autism Spectrum

Preferred Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree
