NEW AMERICANS PROGRAM MANAGER - GRAND RAPIDS AREA

Do you have a Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services-related field and a minimum five years experience in an applicable service provision with experience providing direct services to refugees and asylees? We have a newly-created opportunity for a person-centered Program Manager working with our staff in the Grand Rapids area. The person we seek will provide leadership and support to Case Managers, have local knowledge of the Refugee community, will assist in securing program funding & grant proposal development while promoting our New Americans to area employers.

Duties And Responsibilities:

Job Summary

Provides administration, coordination and leadership for assigned New American (refugee) Service programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain current knowledge of, manage, and implement New American Services Programs, within contract and licensing requirements, funding source guidelines, and accreditation standards.
  • Provide leadership to staff. Partner with Human Resources in staff attraction and retention efforts, including hiring, onboarding, training and development, coaching and counseling and performance management. Ensure delegation of responsibility, authority and accountability. Participate in and/or lead meetings.
  • Develop, implement and monitor annual operating budget within organization fiscal guidelines. Manage operations to meet budgetary limits. Maintain financial records in accordance with organization and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and communicate written guidelines and procedures governing specific program operations and activities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of program outcomes and evaluation related to service delivery, and the development and preparation of year-end program evaluation and reporting.
  • Assist in grant proposal development and writing for the purpose of securing funding and renewal of contracts.
  • Coordinate client referral process according to contract expectations; assure referrals, interim reports, and placement details meet contract or funding authority requirements.
  • Coordinate fundraising and marketing efforts in collaboration with appropriate departments, private community organizations and agencies to promote New American Services.
  • Create and analyze reports. Based on analysis, provide recommendations to program stakeholders.
  • Collaborate and consult with local governmental agencies, business, and community organizations to aid in obtaining program objectives and requirements.

    Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification

    • Bachelors degree in human services or relevant field.

    Experience

    • Minimum five years experience in an applicable service provision. Previous experience providing direct services to refugees and asylees.

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities

    • Extensive familiarity with the labor market in assigned service area.
    • Excellent leadership skills. Knowledge of program development, administration, and staff supervision.
    • Knowledge of state and federal policies and procedures related to refugee services.
    • Ability to function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity and ability to work effectively with clients, family members, agencies and all employee levels within the organization.
    • Ability to communicate expectations clearly and to effectively utilize a teamwork approach with staff at all levels.
    • Excellent problem solving skills. Advanced ability to understand, analyze and interpret basic contracts and financial reports.
    • Ability to apply practical mathematical applications such as of percentages, ratio and proportion, and algebra.
    • Ability to read, speak and write English; ability to prepare business letters, summaries and reports using prescribed format and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style.

    Additional Work Requirements

    • Unrestricted valid drivers license with good driving record. Reliable personal transportation suitable for safely transporting persons served; proof of current automobile insurance.
