Job Description Accounting Analyst Position #29956Duration: 21 months Location: Downtown Columbus, Ohio 43215There are 2 new roles in the Investment Operations Group.1. Back Office supporting Trade Settlement and Investment Cash2. Middle Office Private Equity Team supporting transaction and NAV processing.Job Description: Performs varied accounting functions or responsibilities in the day-to-day maintenance of all, or a portion of, a general ledger and in the preparation of basic financial reports and statements. Utilizes GAAP accounting principles and practices in obtaining, assembling, evaluating and interpreting records and financial data of various types and sources.Job Responsibilities: Assists, under minimal supervision, with the coordination, preparation and analysis of financial reports and statements as assigned. Assists in the development and submission of accounting and financial transactions required to provide proper reporting. Maintains necessary accounting records and files as required. Performs maintenance of general ledger. Prepares and verifies financial reports required by various insurance bureaus, publishing houses, statistical agencies, regulatory authorities, internal and external auditors/examiners and management. Corresponds with various field staff or outside sources concerning difficulties, discrepancies or other matters as directed and needed. Maintains current knowledge of changes to GAAP and/or statutory accounting and reporting requirements, which will impact the submission of required reports and financial statements. Recommends changes that would enhance, improve or facilitate job performance, processing or workflow. Recommends changes and enhancements to related technology. Assists, as requested, in the development and design of new accounting/financial processes. Performs other related duties as assigned.Requirements:Education: Undergraduate studies in accounting or finance; degree preferred. Additional business/accounting course study preferred.Experience: Three years related accounting experience.Knowledge: Industry practices and procedures; GAAP and/or STAT knowledge. Financial statement preparation.Skills/Competencies: Command of all skills necessary for verbal and written communications. Ability to analyze reporting and financial data to determine compliance to established standards. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Ability to efficiently operate a personal computer and related accounting and business software.Credit Check: Due to the fiduciary accountabilities within this job, a valid credit check and/or background check will be required as part of the selection process
