Title:
Membership Coordinator
Reports to:
Membership Manager
Position Summary:
The Membership Coordinator works as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while providing excellent customer service to members including phone and written communications, conducting membership sales and troubleshooting over the phone, and supporting the timely delivery of membership fulfillments.
Additionally, this position supports, through actions and conduct, NYBG's Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility initiatives and helps to build and maintain an inclusive organization culture throughout the institution.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
* Provide exceptional customer service to members via phone and email, including relaying information on garden events, programs, membership, and processing membership sales.
* Print and mail membership cards in-house weekly.
* Update membership database accurately including changes to members' biographical information as well as documenting customer service issues and their resolutions.
* Assist with tracking membership office inventory and supplies.
* Support logistics and execution of member day programs and other member events including local tours, onsite dining events, curator-led tours, and talks as needed.
* Stay updated on all Garden events, current exhibitions, and membership policies and procedures.
* Provide support to membership colleagues; contribute insights for improving member relations.
* Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree or related experience in a cultural or non-profit institution preferred.
* Computer experience with all Microsoft Office software required, experience with point of sale systems and Raiser's Edge or other fundraising databases preferred.
* Enthusiastic and outgoing with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Must be organized with a strong ability to multi-task.
* Able to work as a member of a team as well as independently.
* Must be available to work occasional weekends or holidays as needed.
* Valid driver's license preferred.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
* Prolonged sitting in an office environment
* Prolonged standing when supporting onsite events and programs
Baseline Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
