The Night Print Department Manager will oversee all production personnel, equipment, and processes in a multi-site flexible packaging operation. The position is responsible for continuous improvement in cost, quality, and service levels by employing best practices and lean concepts. Must guide and coach the efforts of team members to deliver on annual business objectives, while helping promote a strong plant culture centered on Company core values. (Respect, Teamwork, Performance, Innovation) Remains accountable for developing leadership skills and abilities of existing supervisors as well as identifying, recognizing, and advancing high performers.Operational Accountabilities.

Continuous Improvement
  • Direct Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate, thorough, and consistent manufacturing data is reported.
  • Ensure accurate, thorough, and consistent process documentation exists and employees are adequately trained.
  • Ensure accurate inventory reporting occurs and work directly with the supply chain team to correct if outages occur.
  • Ensure work orders are generated to address mechanical concerns and work directly with maintenance to schedule completion.
  • Perform root cause investigations and develop corrective actions to prevent recurring problems.
Plant Leadership
  • Establish and maintain a culture of open communication, collaboration, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with production team to ensure asset training is accurate, complete and assessed.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to develop subordinates and appraise performance consistently.
  • Develop leadership skills of front-line supervisors and enhance cross-functional development.
  • Foster a safe work environment by adhering to all safety and regulatory procedures
  • Champion food safety compliance and readiness, particularly by following and enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices and good housekeeping guidelines
  • Build relationships with all departments. Assist in the development of annual business plan objectives as well as personal and team development goals
  • Work closely with Corporate Manufacturing Excellence Team to improve processes
  • Develop strategies to reduce costs and improve manufacturing productivity.
  • Oversee deployment and scheduling of Human Resources to meet production demands
  • Work closely with Maintenance Department to keep equipment operating efficiently, minimizing unplanned downtime
  • Develop and maintain effective training programs for all production departments.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain and Logistics departments to create efficient process flow
  • Oversee the commissioning and startup of new production equipment
  • Maintains constant plant readiness for all regulatory and certification audits
Business Development
  • Oversee trials and new business scale-ups to ensure successful onboarding of new business.
  • Build relationships and interact with Sales, Customers, and all internal departments.
