Job Title: NIGHTSHIFT CSP QA Inspector (Concrete, Structural, Piping)
Length: 3–6-month contract to potential hire
Pay Rate: $55-60/hour – can offer per diem if 60+ miles from job site
Location: Robstown, TX (Corpus Christi)
You will proactively support the Site Manager in ensuring site quality standards are maintained in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and contract documents. You will be responsible for all Quality Assurance processes and procedures on the project site. This role will require collaboration across functional groups to ensure safe and quality installations. This is a role that requires sound technical judgement and creative problem-solving skills to support field operations.
Day to Day
- Monitor the inspection and testing of materials, parts, and products to ensure adherence to established quality standards or applicable codes.
- Review and monitor Contractor Site Quality Plan.
- Interpret design drawings and specifications.
- Implement established procedures for inspection activities.
- Monitor contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers' installation of material and equipment for quality compliance.
- Monitor the receipt of concrete trucks. Ensure the appropriate mix design is being utilized. Ensure the proper slump is being utilized per the mix design. Monitor that all procedures are being followed by contractors when installing concrete.
- Review Inspection Test Plans (ITP's) per project specifications and enforce adherence.
- Oversee a QA/QC processes, procedures, testing, and inspections for self-perform and contractor construction work.
- Management of site CR/NCN processes
- Coordinate and schedule resources to provide appropriate inspection and testing for all construction efforts on a daily and weekly basis.
- Oversee investigations and resolutions of quality related issues
- Coordinate third party inspections as required
- Support development/review of project scopes of work, work plans, and resource requirements
- Inspects and documents acceptance of construction activities and installations.
- Perform observation and inspection of welded/bolted structural steel members and connections, piping fabrication and welding.
- Capable of reviewing and verifying approved welding procedures
- Ensure all field activities are being executed per project specifications, procedures, and current design documents.
- General knowledge of static and rotating equipment.
Must Haves:
- 7+ years of inspection/QA experience
- Previous practical experience on $500M+ projects, preferably with experience on both “owner” and “contractor” side
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector Certification (CWI)
- Beneficial certifications include ACI / API
- Monitoring contractors on concrete, structural steel, and piping
- Piping/welding background
- Spot inspections, documentation, and reporting
- Industry background: oil and gas, petrochemical, heavy industrial
- Monitoring contractors' scope of work – assuring that what they are completing are following specs/requirements
- contractor and client-side experience
- Prior experience managing a construction site QA/QC program including knowledge of construction industry codes (AWS, ASME, NFPA, NEC, ACI, etc)
- Prior experience performing quality audits
- Broad knowledge of the quality principles and their application to engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, operations, and commissioning
- Knowledge of the application of corrective actions to reconcile nonconforming conditions
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements which impact the quality program
- Ability to navigate between QC requirements of self-perform construction and QA oversight of sub-contractor construction
