Nighttime Snowmaker Job Summary
Operate and maintain snow guns, hoses, hydrants, and pumps to create manufactured snow from pressurized water sources. Night-time Snowmakers with experience are preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Produce quality snow through the use of both air/water and fan equipment.
- Relocate snow guns and hoses as needed to various areas around the mountain.
- Adjust snow guns to maintain snowmaking efficiency; keep hoses on top of the snow.
- Perform upkeep and repair of snow guns, pumps, snow machines and ATVs.
- Remove snow around snowmaking equipment and other areas at the resort.
- Assist installing snowmaking pipelines, hydrants, towers, and snow-guns.
- Work safely near heavy equipment, high voltage, and high water pressure systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned while waiting for snowmaking conditions.
- Keep the workshop a clean and functional working environment.
- Organize and maintain shop tools, and keep shop equipment in good repair.
- Report and record any service work needed or performed on equipment.
- Drive ATVs or snowmobiles on the ski hill as necessary, following proper driving protocols.
- Drive snow machines to move snow guns with owner or manager approval.
- Perform other tasks for Maintenance or Lift Operations, or as assigned by a manager.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)
- On-site training for snowmaking operations provided. Must be eager to learn and willing to follow instructions.
- Prior mechanical/technological experience preferred.
- Able to work independently with little to no supervision.
- Willing and able to follow company procedures for risk mitigation in the workplace.
- Able to communicate clearly in-person and using 2-way radios.
- Has reliable transportation, and can work nights.

Physical Demands
- Must be able to regulate body temperature and keep warm in winter weather and adverse conditions.
- Must be physically fit and able to lift up to 100 lbs.
- Must be able to work in an environment that is occasionally very loud.
- Must be agile and able to climb on and off towers and vehicles frequently.
- Must be able to use hands and fingers to manipulate frozen machinery.
- Must be able to hike on steep snow and ice covered terrain.
- Must be able to stand, bend, climb, lift, reach, push and pull repetitively.
- Must be mentally attentive and focused at all times.
- Should enjoy beautiful, starry nights and hiking around an amazing place while performing meaningful work.
Requirements
Shift Requirements:
- Hours may be long with frequent 12 hour shifts.
- Shifts are sometimes 7 days a week during peak snowmaking season.
- Expect to work overnight shifts.
- Expect to work weekend and holiday shifts as needed.
Age Requirements:
- Applicants must be at least age 18.
Other Requirements:
- Applicants must have a valid driver's license to operate ATVs, snowmobiles, or other vehicles.
- Snow machines operators require prior training & expert level experience.
